Economy

The cost of Thanksgiving dinner has risen by 19% compared to pre-Biden era prices, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation. While the average cost of a Thanksgiving meal has decreased slightly from last year, it remains significantly higher than pre-pandemic levels, with turkey prices seeing the most substantial increase. Regional differences in meal costs persist, with the South offering the most affordable prices and the West the most expensive. This trend reflects broader inflationary pressures affecting food prices and farmers’ costs.

US Politics

In a recent episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast, Marc Andreessen, co-founder of Andreessen Horowitz, expressed his concerns over the Biden administration’s approach to AI regulation, which he likened to China’s restrictive policies. Andreessen, historically a Democrat supporter, reportedly endorsed Donald Trump, citing the administration’s plans to limit AI development to a few large companies, which he believes could stifle startups. This sentiment is reportedly shared by other Silicon Valley figures, including Elon Musk, who have expressed apprehensions about government involvement in technology sectors. Andreessen’s endorsement of Trump is also influenced by the latter’s stance on cryptocurrency and AI regulation. The discussion included national security issues, such as the reliance on Chinese-made drones by the U.S. military and the potential for AI censorship to surpass current social media controls.

Meanwhile, Larry Klayman, founder of Judicial Watch and Freedom Watch, has warned of a potential backlash from the Left following Donald Trump’s re-election as the 47th President of the United States. Klayman describes the political climate as a “war,” suggesting that the Left’s rhetoric could lead to violence reminiscent of past unrest. He advocates for Trump’s declaration of martial law if necessary and emphasizes the need for support from “patriots” to counteract what he perceives as the Left’s plans. Klayman is involved in legal cases, including a defamation lawsuit against HBO and Bill Maher, and is seeking a role in the Trump administration to influence judicial appointments.

Finally, senior adviser to the Harris campaign, David Plouffe, disclosed that the campaign’s internal polls never showed Harris leading Trump, contradicting public polls that suggested otherwise. This discrepancy reportedly contributed to a false perception of a competitive race, ultimately resulting in Trump’s victory, marking the best Republican performance since 2004. The campaign’s internal panic and the subsequent public backlash highlight the challenges of maintaining transparency and accuracy in political polling.

Geopolitics

Former U.S. Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, has criticized the U.S. for allegedly provoking Russia, warning of the risks of nuclear conflict. The U.S. has reportedly allowed missile strikes from Ukrainian territory into Russia, which Moscow interprets as an act of war. This situation is compounded by NATO’s increased reconnaissance near the Kaliningrad region, with several military aircraft conducting sorties close to the Russian border. Russian President Vladimir Putin has responded by ordering the rapid deployment of “Satan II” nuclear missiles, warning that arming Ukraine with nuclear capabilities could lead to global catastrophe. The Russian Foreign Minister has indicated that Russia’s patience is wearing thin, suggesting a strong response may be imminent.

The party line pivot doesn’t surprise me at all. I never met Marc, but I met hist partner Ben when I ran tech ops for a startup company that a16z funded 5-6 years ago. Ben did a long fireside chat with us one day while he was in town, and he was talking about how AI and Web3+ would be revolutionizing technologies in the near future, so they were investing in them heavily over all else.

These VCs are all about creating new industry sectors and technologies that they can dominate with investment capital, and at the end of the day the only belief system they have is the color green. So whichever side/party gives them the least amount of friction will be who they throw the most money at - regardless of what the moral and ethical values they represent.

There’s no doubt that the “leftist” faction of the public-private sector have bought into the totalitarian long-game, but knowing what I know, the alternative to that is anything but appealing. I.e., techno-capitalism and corporate technocracy, where corporations become your government, judge, jury, and health care overlords (NBIC).

This Andressen insight was the most appalling I’ve encountered.

With this election, it sure seems like the nation turned its head just enough to the right to dodge a bullet.

Let’s hope Trump follows through.

It seems Andreesen may have opened some floodgates.

I wonder if Trump’s change of heart on crypto has anything to do with being debanked.
