Dr. Ken Berry: Getting Healthy is Easier Than You Think

The skipping breakfast part was the easiest approach for me to do.

Have you noticed any improvements since skipping breakfast?

Thinking back I ever ate breakfast until about the time I started gaining weight.

I have recently moved to brunch and am earlier supper. I make chopped cabbage salads and eat them if I need something outside of that time frame. We shall see.

I also know that simply removing some of the belly fat can shift the A1C because it causes insulin resistance in many folks who are at risk for diabetes. I don’t remember the data, however I remember that it’s, as often as not, a small percentage of overall body weight in most cases before the numbers back away from the brink.

Other good news is that fatty liver can retreat quite quickly as well.

We can become healthier with reasonable efforts and changes as long as we continue them, and make them part of the lifestyle.

Weight loss was the first thing and it happened fairly quickly.

That’s great that you were able to see results through weight loss.

It’s easy to rack up 100 grams of carbs in a day. It need not be “processed” carbs. I was just looking at my breakfast. Buckwheat cereal from Bob’s Red Mill - it is strictly only buckwheat. 22 grams of the buckwheat, it has carbs… Also found carbs in the Prunes, and the dried goji berries. They add up to 50 carbs. Nothing at all processed; these are whole foods.

When I cook beans, I put them in the saucepan with water (R.O.) and some seaweed. Bring it to a boil, turn off the heat, cover and let sit overnight. Then drain, and use the beans in whatever dish I was planning to cook. This is a little faster than your method.
