Energy Shortages, Diesel Bans, and the Bond Market’s Warning with Cambone and McElroy

This week, I appeared on Daniela Cambone and Ken McElroy’s shows. Daniela and I discussed the real energy shock behind the headlines – closed choke points, attacks on refineries and shipping, why paper oil prices do not match diesel at the pump, the broken gold-oil link, and the Fed’s looming choice between defending the bond market or the dollar. Next, Ken and I discussed a possible 90-day U.S. diesel export ban, how costly diesel is already pushing inflation through farming, freight, and food, exploding tanker rates, fertilizer and El Niño risks, recession vibes on the ground, and what to watch if yields rise while the dollar falls. Both interviews are below!

This interview is IMHO one of your best interviews. Her questions were outstanding.

Getting closer to common knowledge; one interview at a time

I used to take down old barns and repurpose the lumber into furniture for bars and restaurants ECT.

We would take them down with crowbars and hammers, one nail at a time. Even after years and years of experience in this line of work it always surprised me how long a barn would hold together; you would remove 99% percent of the nails or wooden pegs and it still wouldn’t fall.

Then all of a sudden, that one last nail or support would be removed and the whole thing would go.

Feels like we are at that point. we all know it’s going to end up on the ground, but which nail finally tips the scale? Anybody’s guess, but what we do know is the barn won’t spontaneously rebuild itself. Get prepared

I love the analogy.

Also, your username. Reminds me of this mem I made years ago:

Yes, I crack myself up.

Recently I was thinking of changing my screen name to “the gay of Hormuz”

But it seems reality is more satirical than satire these days

I guess that dogs are all that’s left for viable relationships? In the future, there will be movies about Human - AI relationships?

I saw what Chris did when he drew the graph in the air to make his supply and demand case to Daniela Cambone. Nice save  IYKYK
