Friend who runs a trucking company was advised about a month ago to order oil by his supplier. I ordered 1 year worth of oil changes in my vehicles, when he told me. My friends cost went up about 25%. The oil I use in my SxS went from 10.49 per qt to 16.99 per qt.
This is where I’m confused too. Claim is we still have 340ish mb of crude in strategic reserves, but Trump said we were 4 weeks away from disaster. We’re only pulling out 7-10mb of crude a week out of strategic reserves, so now what? Gas should be much higher right now.
I agree. I guess we’ll take a hard turn in supply and price at some point. They sure are doing a good job hiding the problem we’re facing. On a positive note, I heard that 2 of the 3 aircraft carrier groups near the Strait of Hormuz have sailed away. That’s a strong signal that war is off the table, or at least conventional war is. We never know what the psychopaths are planning.
They may have figured out that the stand off distance from Iran due to drone swarms and accurate/indefensible missiles renders their carrier air strike capability utterly useless. Every strike was land based from Israel or a Gulf state. They had to be. Russia’s and Iran’s medium/long range hypersonic missile capabilities should have been a clue. We always train for the last war we fought, even when we lose.
My guess is just that, a guess but it comes from experience.
All this worry about oil scarcity or price. When the US controls the SOH toll booth and is raking in all that incredibly, beautiful, fantastic, shiny toll cash, gas prices will plummet that I can tell you. And the toll booths themselves will be installed on Mars where they’ll be just as controllable as having them in the strait. So incredible. Only low IQ, fake news, losers would think otherwise. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
I never understood what elections had to do with this stuff. People don’t realize that politicians are not all-powerful and our systems are complex and have lives of their own. It is ignorant superficial thinking, but that is the average Joe I guess. It is dangerous too, such as Biden using the oil reserves for popularity, knowing most people won’t make the connections.
Yes, and politicians will take whatever small advantages they can get, the general public well-being be damned. They’re like copper thieves who’ll do $50,000 of damage to a house to clear $400.
We need the president’s signature plus a 2/3rds vote in both houses of congress to tap the SPR. Even then, it might eventually turn into an expected “election season bonus” on the part of some voters.
