Thank you, that was beautifully expressed. I never heard of Dolores LaChapelle, but now I think I’m a fan. (I’ve never skied and I feel a bit jealous of this woman’s transcendent experience.)
What is described in the article below is what I would call “being in quantum,” which is an idea I got from a strange guy I sat next to at a diner counter once, like a scene in an artsy movie. I never saw him again, but this one concept has changed my life. He was relating this idea to race-car driving and my understanding was that this is a state of being which transcends normal being, where one is completely integrated with reality and one with it, so that he or she can perform with an actual perfection. I don’t know that “quantum” is the correct or best word, but it is the word this guy used, so I now use it myself.
I’m happy to be talking about this because I’ve never mentioned it before on the internet, nor have I ever seen any reference to “being in quantum.” When I did a search, all I came up with is quantum physics. I have come to see that “quantum”, is a higher state of being and probably the ideal one and probably yields the best results in any undertaking. It is simply how this all works, this realm…and our brains. The chaos of my brain often irritates me, but I have realized this is how it’s supposed to work and you just have to enter that “flow.” Stop resisting. LaChapelle also talked about flow. That’s another word you could use, being in flow. Animals and young children are naturally in flow. We all start out in this perfect state and it is our job to learn how to return to it.
The article also mentions Aldo Leopold, who LaChapelle was very influenced by. He was a forerunner in the environmental movement. And here is that full quote…
