So It's Back To First Principles (Part 1)

I don’t believe those of us on here who contributed to our Recognition Tools ever confirmed or denied that they were related. We considered them possibly being related, but it’s been several months since we identified them I don’t recall a definitive outcome of that consideration.

Thank you! I knew Blasko had mentioned something about where he was from, and Phoenix actually offers a much better fit! And Arizona is a swing state, so purple!

As @vegaspatriot already said, I don’t know either of any actual confirmed relationship between the two. On top of that, the videos on the Butler County Cop Watch youtube page are done by another Shaffer as well (he comes across Schaffner at one point, and remarks on how similar they’re names are, and we get the true pronunciation of Schaffner from this same video “Sch-off-ner”).

I had tried before to ID this gentleman and came to a dead end. I’ll see what I can come up with as far as a better image and see if I can’t help narrow things down. I can definitely see potential in a Dobson match, but it’s hard to tell quite yet.

OK, thank you for your reply. Same outcome with Mike/Greg Nicol? I had a lot of officers identified and i would have shared this information on this forum. You, and others on here found them all yourselves. I contributed to only 1.

Thanks for the help from your “Eagle Eye.” I tried looking for the other patrolmen not assigned to the rally and only found one that had an image online that I could find, I just don’t know where I saved it. Dobson was a far better match than him, though.

From what I recall, ‘Mike Nicol’ was written in error, possibly even autocorrected, meant to actually be Michel Nicol, or Michel Vasiladiotis-Nicol, the BeC TEMS/medic.

@redranamber

FYI - I now have a good link to that motorcade video that was removed. I’m not sure where it was posted before, but it appears that Storyful protected their copyright of it or purchased the rights to it.

FYI - William Dobson likely was working July 13th, since Lt. Pearson didn’t mention anyone coming in from being off-duty, unless that’s what he meant by “Some came in.”

So, I don’t catch him in the first group around 18:44:02 like this says:

But I do find him in the second timeframe, and I don’t believe he is associated with Butler Township, instead Jackson:

I originally thought McGee, but McGee is a corporal and as such would wear chevrons:

I don’t have an example of each individual so far, so I cannot be sure really, but perhaps this is Miller?:

Aha! Jackson Township it is. Thanks for the higher resolution. Miller it could be, but still tough to confirm.

No problem! And yeah, it is quite hard to tell! I keep going back and forth on him. No arm tats, and his wrists are on the thinner side. He also seems to be taller than I make him out to be, approximately as tall as McGee just judging by the photo, if not taller. Let me know if you come across any images of the other 4 officers that haven’t been ruled out yet, I haven’t been able to find them yet.

-Still working on grabbing day-of screens for him-

Those bottom set of images are looking better. Unfortunately, Collins’ dashcam is the only video we see him in, given the late hour and his location.

Last night I came to the conclusion that we’re missing 2 local snipers from the grandstands I initially thought Ben Shaffer was partnered with someone listed in the BuC FPOTUS Detail plan. At one point I thought Huminsky based on a process of elimination. Then I thought Kuzak because I ruled out Huminsky. Now I rule out Kuzak and am left with someone not listed. As for Wagner’s partner, I used to think he was referring to Shaffer and his partner when talking about the other grandstand snipers, but it turns out he had a partner in the announcer’s booth with him They stayed at that position until around 8 pm, and all other BuC ESU were sighted before then, so it must be someone not listed in the plan, as well.

Edit: Revised the unknown snipers’ headers.

That’s interesting. I had thought of the fact that snipers, or counter-snipers, typically work in pairs. Thus, the two pairs of Hercules, Woods and Nicol, and I thought Shaffer was paired with Huminsky for WRSWAT. What ruled him out for you, if you don’t mind elaborating? Along that train of thought though, both Wagner and Murcko would have a local partner, but I think it was made pretty clear they didn’t have the manpower to staff as they would have wanted to…

-63Sierra-Huminsky; Sierra was generally used for counter-snipers:

Damn, I forgot about that. My initial thoughts regarding it being Huminsky was through process of elimination from the scene at the grey shed when WRSWAT first arrived at AGR. Then, I believed Huminsky joined the BeC CAT #2 team at the Dutch treatment scene, knowing it wasn’t a typical WRSWAT uniform, and he would have walked over from the grandstand and left B. Shaffer in the grandstand alone. It is possible that this ID is incorrect.

From Yerace Video

Wagner testified that “they” didn’t leave their post until 8 pm, but I couldn’t determine if he meant “they” to include WRSWAT snipers or just him and his partner. If it included WRSWAT, it would rule out that being Huminsky at the Dutch scene.

As for snipers versus counter-snipers, I have always used the latter based on Ben Shaffer’s statement during his Congressional Forum statement where he corrected himself and said counter-snipers, we didn’t have any snipers. However, everybody else, including the BuC Detail Plan, refers to them as snipers due to being an overwatch looking into the crowd, not outward looking for hostile snipers.

As for this being Jurysta, the backpack doesn’t match his black backpack, which had his name on the back, right? That large tanish backpack is what’s puzzling me because it’s the first and only time I’ve seen i is in these two scenes.

I’d say he came from the BeC armor that had just pulled up, and by those biceps that would almost have to be Bitts! :muscle:

Here is the full slide from my current project. Bitts has black sunglasses, not mirrored, and a different helmet cam, from what I can see.

You’re right, that backpack doesn’t seem to match, but that may just be a trick of the light in the dashcam video. This is another one I keep going back and forth on  Sleeve length is also an issue…:

That larger backpack looks like a special purpose one to me, given its shape. It looks like it contains something with a box-like shape, not just personal gear. I have no clue what that item might be, but all of the other backpacks have a sagging look due to the loose gear settling to the bottom. This one has a firm shape at the top.
