The proposed Swiss elimination of privacy cought my eye. How Switzerland has changed in my lifetime. Are there any Swiss left in Switzerland? Personal experience and what I have read, Switzerland is not a place for one to expect stable cultural norms anymore. As a people, the Swiss are the richest in Europe on a per person basis. This distinction provides a receipe for the country to go in only one direction: to surrender cultural norms in order to protect the trappings of wealth. Fortunately, Switzerland is sufficiently small to maintain a relatively weak central government while the Cantons possess the real power. Were it not for the weakness of the Supreme Court justices over time who were willing to forego their central responsiblity to protect the US Constitution, the United States should have a similar arrangement of powers between federal and each of the states. Switzerland has ample information about how corruption ALWAYS seeks to ensconse itself where power is located. So Switzerland can vividly see how concentration of power is destroying the USA from within. If the current arrangement of powers in Switzerland changes it will be the end of Switzerland and the Swiss.
