I lived in Texas for 6 years. Recently came back to the Northeast due to family issues. Texas has always been set up to become independent again. That’s why they have kept a lot of infrastructure separate (and why it has it’s own electric grid system, for example). I believe Texas is the only state that was once a separate country and that is reflected in the culture.
