Ukraine Strikes Knock Out Power in Crimea, COVID Vaccine Deaths Revised, Judge Blocks Voter Checks

I deliberately planted extra this year to donate fresh food. Last year we casually donated extras. Also connected with a church food pantry to donate produce. It’s important to build the community we want to see.

I commend you on your efforts.

Oops! Copied the link for the Canadian version by mistake.

The woman I know who uses food banks also donates some of her surplus garden produce to the same food banks.

I understand why shelf stable food is important. But I bet it’s a treat to find tasty, healthy produce available. Shouldn’t be a treat. Healthy fresh food should be the norm for everyone.

It should be, however a large portion of people in the USA use little fresh produce. I see people with children in the grocery stores and notice what is in the baskets. You can often guess what you will see from a distance based on the appearance of the people pushing the cart.

So sad to see people with only packaged food stuffs and the obligatory bananas, especially when they have kids with them.

We have grown extra organic produce for others for a few years and given it away through an initiative we’ve named Food for All. It’s just a pick-up in our driveway, but has worked very well and people are quite appreciative. We are taking a break this year, but our library will be coordinating a space for free produce there this summer so at least there will be that option.
