Have mini skidster (& diesel mechanic neighbor), not trading. Have water/filters, hopefully warmth. Food (eventually) may become the big barter item.

Location, location, location. Not much food produced w/o water. When the power goes out and the pumps stop pumping, those ~5M souls in the Phx Metro area and the numerous irrigated farms will be in a world of hurt.
Water doesn’t flow downhill, it flows to money. I guess the creek below the cabin could be diverted (some 7 mi. upstream) and guys with shotguns protecting the supply? It’s a two mile hike or ski up (1000’ vert.) to a so far permanent water supply. Water is heavy.

In terms of having extra on hand for barter, there is still time to acquire it and most can do so affordably. Rice and beans and beans and rice, gotta have variety.

Yes, scrap silver has low premiums right now, I’d jump on that if I didn’t;t already have a lot of it.
Agreed, freezing more rice now in the garage (kills the unhatched critters) + stocked up on Hatch, NM chile (red and green). Variety is the spice of life.

One-hit green chile servings even and El Pinto has Red Chile sauce as well.
I can’t recall how long I’ve been grilling fresh Chile and I’m not even a New Mexican. I eat it on most everything. I’m up to grilling about 1 1/2 bushels each season + then a number of jugs of the chopped green chile & red chile sauce.
