Arthur alluded to this in one of his recent posts. None of those high-paid CEOs need to figure that out, because the model isn't one that values the end-consumer. The model is a business-to-business model: As long as Wal-Mart buys from the corporation, it matters not one whit whether you or I buy from Wal-Mart. I believe the thinking is something like: "I got mine. F*** You."
