Two doctors, Drs. Pierre Kory and Paul Marik, have had their medical certifications revoked by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) following a two-year investigation into their promotion of ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19 and their criticism of COVID-19 vaccines. The ABIM cited concerns for patient safety and public trust. Both doctors are co-founders of the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC), which advocates for alternative COVID-19 treatments. The FLCCC and the doctors argue that the decision stifles scientific debate. Dr. Meryl Nass also had her certification revoked following a suspension by the Maine Medical Board. Dr. Peter McCullough faced similar issues with the ABIM, although his certification remains active. The doctors claim that the ABIM’s actions are part of a broader effort to suppress dissenting medical opinions and protect the interests of the medical establishment.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the mpox outbreak in parts of Africa a public health emergency of international concern. The disease, formerly known as monkeypox, has killed at least 450 people in the Democratic Republic of Congo and has spread to central and east Africa. A new, highly fatal variant, Clade 1b, is spreading rapidly. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus emphasized the need for a coordinated international response. Mpox is transmitted through close contact and can cause flu-like symptoms, skin lesions, and death in about 4% of cases. The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has also declared a public health emergency.

Politics

In Manhattan, a migrant encampment has emerged on Randall’s Island, featuring over 50 tents and an open-air market. The encampment, located near a city-run 3,000-bed mega-shelter, has led to significant littering and misuse of city utilities. Migrants have set up stands selling food, loose cigarettes, and joints, and have tapped into city utility poles for electricity and commandeered water fountains for cooking and bathing. The situation has led to overflowing portable toilets and private security guards reportedly neglecting their duties. NYPD officers and city parks workers have attempted to dismantle the encampment, but it remains unclear if these efforts will be permanent. Mayor Eric Adams and his administration have stated that they will continue to enforce rules against illicit vending and tent cities.

In a development related to the Trump shooting, a newly released video and photo show Thomas Crooks walking with a gun and later jumping between roofs moments before attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The video captures Crooks firing at Trump, resulting in injuries to Trump, the death of a supporter, and wounding two others. Local police had warned the Secret Service about the AGR building near the event, but the area remained unguarded, leading to questions about the Secret Service’s security measures.

In an unrelated incident, the U.S. Secret Service faced criticism after a female agent reportedly left her post to breastfeed her child during an event in Asheville, North Carolina, where former President Donald Trump was present. This incident occurred shortly before Trump’s motorcade arrived, during a final security sweep by the site agent. The female agent was found in a room designated for important Secret Service work, accompanied by two unvetted family members and her baby. Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi stated that the incident is under examination. This event is part of a series of security breaches by the Secret Service, including a significant lapse on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, where 20-year-old Thomas Crooks fired several rounds at Trump during a rally, resulting in one death and two critical injuries. The shooting led to the resignation of Director Kimberly Cheatle.

Environment

Climate activists from Letzte Generation broke into four German airport sites, briefly halting air traffic at two of them before police made arrests. The activists gained access to airfields near the takeoff and landing strips of Cologne-Bonn, Nuremberg, Berlin Brandenburg, and Stuttgart airports. They cut holes in fences, glued themselves to the asphalt, and unfurled banners reading “Oil kills” and “Sign the treaty,” referring to their demand for an international ban on the use of oil, gas, and coal by 2030. The interior minister, Nancy Faeser, condemned the protest and called for tough prison sentences for those involved.

Economy

Subway has called an emergency meeting with franchisees of its 19,000 North American sandwich shops as they grapple with faltering sales and profits amid the fast-food “value wars.” Quick-service restaurants (QSR) are offering $5 meal deals to maintain market share as consumers face financial strain. McDonald’s and Burger King have launched such deals, and KFC plans to follow suit. Subway’s same-store sales have reportedly declined by 5% to 10% in recent weeks. The latest national ad campaign with NBA great Charles Barkley appears to have been ineffective, with average weekly same-store sales for the Eastern US region dipping 8.7% between June 25 and July 16 compared to the same period last year.

I think Ivor is doing a much better job of generating neutral POV in the write ups. Nice work guys! Long live LLMs.

From my perspective, Marik and Kory are both deeply good and heroic people. For those who don’t know, Marik is older and seems to be best known for his innovative treatment of sepsis. He’s been persecuted by his hospital and was almost in tears in frustration describing how he was prohibited from using drugs he knew were effective to help his patients. He is very kind and studious. Kory is younger and more brash, angrier about how he and Marik and so many other good doctors have been treated. He wrote a book called The War On Ivermectin, highly recommended.

The COVID debacle made me realize that medical boards probably exist only to exert top-down control over the behavior of doctors, and “medical privacy” laws probably exist mostly to prevent people from gathering the data that would otherwise show conclusively that a lot of common treatments are harmful.

Dr. Kory’s statement on the matter of his recent board decertifications:

Here’s more.

It is clear Dr. Kory has NOT been stripped of his licenses to practice his specialties. The “board” has attempted to prevent him from practice in their captured facilities/organizations. He continues to do the important work he was obviously born to do.

I am pleased Dr. Kory has no intention of or interest in “going away quietly”. This is a lengthy piece but the world should know every word of it. As we discover the troubling facts that every tax-payer funded agency is captured by baddies, it is good to know some those that refused to play.

I thought Dr. Kory had setup a practice on an Indian reservation to avoid US jurisdiction.

Leading Edge Clinic is set up under Native American (specifically Crow Nation) law. I do not believe it physically resides on a reservation @aaronmckeon. But I could be wrong. I am a patient at LE and best of my knowledge, LE has an Ithaca NY address, all the doctors, pa’s, nurses, etc. work virtually from where they are. My caretakers at LE are not in NY.

I do not put anything beyond any of the evil doers that are after Dr. Kory and Dr. Marik, as well as anyone associated with them. No licenses to practice medicine are affected (yet), just Dr. Kory and Marik’s American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Certifications have been canceled. These certs allow doctors to practice at specific places like hospitals, ICU’s, Critical Care, certain organized medical groups, etc. Dr. Kory explains the punishment in both articles. I really am happy he is calling the ABIM out on all these counts.
