Assassination in Minnesota, Iran-Israel Conflict Escalates

Geopolitics

The geopolitical landscape has been significantly affected by the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel. Skirmishes have continued, involving an Israeli assassination campaign, air strikes, and an Iranian missile campaign. This ongoing conflict has drawn international attention, with the U.S. military reportedly engaging Iranian drones and missiles. Some Middle Eastern countries have expressed concern about the potential for a wider war.

Simon Dixon has suggested the possibility of a secret deal between the U.S., Iran, and Israel, hinting at a strategic separation between Iran and the IRGC. Meanwhile, the U.S. intelligence community had confirmed that Iran is not currently pursuing nuclear weapons, a statement that contrasts with the heightened military activities in the region. However, some experts argue that Iran’s advancements in missile technology and uranium enrichment could potentially shorten the timeline to weaponization if a decision is made to pursue nuclear weapons.

The conflict’s roots trace back to historical interventions, with Jimmy Dore pointing out the CIA’s role in the 1953 coup in Iran, which led to the establishment of a theocratic government. This historical context adds layers to the current tensions, where Israel’s preemptive strike on Iran, described by Douglas Macgregor as a rapid response, has reportedly caught Iran off-guard, leading to a swift counteraction. Some argue that the strike was a calculated risk to test Iran’s response capabilities and gauge international reactions.

In the U.S. Congress, Bernie Sanders has proposed legislation to block U.S. military involvement in any conflict initiated by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu against Iran.

Energy

The energy sector has been impacted by the Iran-Israel conflict, with an Israeli strike causing a major disruption at an Iranian oil facility, leading to a significant production outage. Analysts suggest that this could lead to a temporary spike in oil prices due to the disruption in supply.

In other news, the EPA has proposed the repeal of the Biden-era Clean Power Plan 2.0, citing legal and technical flaws. This plan, which aimed to reduce carbon emissions from power plants, has been criticized for its potential impact on the electricity grid and costs for consumers. The proposed repeal reflects a shift in policy towards more technologically feasible and economically viable energy solutions. Environmental groups have voiced opposition to the repeal, arguing that it would be a setback for climate action.

US Politics

Vance Luther Boelter, a former appointee of Governor Waltz, allegedly assassinated a state representative and critically injured a senator in Minnesota. Boelter reportedly posed as a police officer and left behind a manifesto targeting politicians. This event has led President Donald Trump to publicly condemn such acts, stating they will not be tolerated. Boelter’s connection to the Governor’s Workforce Development Board has raised questions about the vetting process for political appointees.

Senator Bernie Sanders has reportedly voiced support for the “No King” protests, which are part of a broader movement against perceived authoritarianism. Some critics argue that Sanders’ rhetoric could be seen as divisive and potentially inciting unrest.

One of the “No Kings” protests encountered its own issues when a shooting at a march in Salt Lake City left one person critically injured. The event, part of a nationwide protest, saw around 10,000 attendees before the violence erupted, leading to the arrest of a suspect and two others. Governor Spencer Cox described the incident as “deeply troubling.” Some political commentators have criticized the protests as “anarchist gatherings,” suggesting that the violence was an inevitable outcome.

A man from Culpeper, Virginia, identified as Joseph R. Checklick Jr., was arrested for driving into a crowd following a protest. The incident, which occurred on June 14, 2025, resulted in no reported injuries, but Checklick Jr. was charged with reckless driving and held without bond. Local law enforcement has stressed the importance of public safety during protests, while some residents have suggested that the driver might have felt threatened by the crowd’s behavior.

In a related commentary, Jeffrey A. Tucker noted the irony of demonstrators who previously supported stringent lockdown measures now protesting against what they perceive as tyranny.

Remember 3 years ago, I contributed this article on Peak Prosperity? I wrote,

Unfortunately, all this can only mean war will revisit Middle East sooner rather than later.

Let’s hope the best case scenario as written in my article happened.

The person shot in Utah sadly has died. I suppose the protest promoters see this as nothing more than collateral damage, but they were so worried about Grandma a few years ago.
