Epstein Files

The Department of Justice will allow all members of Congress to review unredacted Epstein files starting Monday, February 9. Access will be in-person only at DOJ facilities, with restrictions including no electronic copies or staff accompaniment. Also on the same day, Ghislaine Maxwell is scheduled to provide a sworn deposition to the House Oversight Committee as part of Representative James Comer’s investigation. Maxwell’s attorneys have indicated she plans to invoke her Fifth Amendment rights.

Technology

RentAHuman.ai, launched by software engineer Alexander Liteplo, allows AI agents to hire humans for physical tasks through a Model Context Protocol server. Humans can list skills, locations, and rates ranging from low to specialized, enabling bots to search profiles, book services, or post bounties for tasks like package pickups. The platform, described by its creator as the “meatspace layer for AI,” has attracted thousands of sign-ups, including from diverse professionals. Some observers have labeled it dystopian amid concerns over AI-driven labor shifts.

Health

CDC Principal Deputy Director Dr. Ralph Abraham stated in a Wall Street Journal letter that the MMR vaccine does not guarantee protection against measles and that the U.S. cannot rely solely on vaccination, despite high immunization coverage. His comments followed a CDC report on a 2025 Colorado outbreak that began with an unvaccinated international traveler and infected 10 people: four secondary cases among those with two MMR doses, four unvaccinated individuals, and one tertiary case. All recovered. CDC data cite 93% effectiveness for one dose and 97% for two doses, based on studies up to 2013. Experts have noted potential waning immunity of about 4% annually. The U.S. recorded 2,255 measles cases in 2025, the highest since 1992, and 588 cases so far in 2026, with outbreaks in states including South Carolina, Florida, Utah, Washington, and Texas, where two children died from complications such as secondary bacterial infections. Abraham attributed the rises partly to cases introduced from Canada and Mexico, which reported more cases despite smaller populations. HHS stated vaccination is the most effective measure and is increasing resources for outbreaks under Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., including therapeutics and education in under-vaccinated communities.

Geopolitics

The New START treaty expired on February 4, 2026, leaving the U.S. and Russia without limits on deployed nuclear weapons for the first time in more than a decade. The treaty had capped each side at 700 deployed ICBMs, SLBMs, and heavy bombers; 1,550 warheads; and 800 launchers. President Trump declined a one-year extension offered by President Putin, proposing a new treaty that could include China due to its growing arsenal. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that 21st-century arms control must address Beijing. The two sides reportedly share an informal understanding to adhere to the limits for six months during ongoing discussions. Russia has expressed openness to arms control talks contingent on a constructive U.S. response.

Speaking of China, during a two-hour call, President Xi Jinping told President Trump that Taiwan is the core of U.S.-China relations, vowed not to allow separation, and urged caution on arms sales. Trump described the call as excellent and positive, noting Xi’s consideration of increasing U.S. soybean purchases to 20 million metric tons from 12 million. Taiwan President Lai Ching-te stated that U.S. ties remain solid and cooperation uninterrupted, as recent U.S. arms packages worth over $11 billion proceed.

In other China news, Panama’s Supreme Court voided operating licenses for CK Hutchison’s Panama Ports Company at Balboa and Cristóbal, the Panama Canal’s Pacific and Atlantic terminals. China’s Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office called the ruling flawed and warned of a heavy political and economic price, instructing state firms to halt new projects worth billions, advising shipping reroutes, and increasing customs checks on Panamanian imports such as bananas and coffee. President Jose Raul Mulino rejected the warnings and affirmed judicial independence. Meanwhile, Panama has temporarily shifted operations to Maersk.

Economy

Mining companies, including Hecla, the largest silver producer in the United States and Canada, have reportedly refused deliveries to COMEX citing price disparities with physical markets. As of early February 2026, COMEX listed silver at $74.65 per ounce and gold at $4,209 per ounce, while Shanghai traded silver near $120 per ounce and gold near $5,500 per ounce. Producers have bypassed COMEX to seek higher prices in physical markets. The claims remain unverified by official statements from Hecla, with COMEX silver deliveries continuing at high levels, including 181 notices on February 6.

Global data reportedly show zero gold discoveries for two consecutive years. Major discoveries for most metals have fallen to single digits, with no significant projects expected to affect supply curves. However, counter-reports highlight recent major gold discoveries, including a 1,444-tonne deposit in Western Australia and others in China. The disparity likely stems from the underlying definition of “discovery.”

The Netherlands plans to vote in March on a proposal to tax unrealized capital gains annually on real estate, stocks, bonds, and cryptocurrencies. The measure has support across political lines, amid reported concerns over fiscal pressures in the country, which has a 46% debt-to-GDP ratio. The new coalition government has announced plans to scrap the unrealized gains levy by 2028 in favor of taxing realized gains, dividends, and interest.

US Politics

The FBI and CIA have apprehended Zubayr al-Bakoush, a suspect in the 2012 Benghazi attack that killed four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, after 13 years. He was extradited to Andrews Air Force Base and faces murder, arson, and terrorism charges. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the arrest and stated the government will pursue remaining perpetrators. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro said the pursuit will continue regardless of time elapsed. Ansar al-Sharia, an Al-Qaeda-aligned group, has been linked to the attack on the U.S. consulate and CIA outpost. This is the second such arrest, following Mustafa al-Imam’s 19-year sentence in 2020. Some observers have questioned the timing amid past scrutiny of Benghazi-related testimonies.

Currently the US is operating with the rule of: “we have to win and you have to lose”. That’s a dangerous game to play, geopolitically. What happens then is the other players react to your moves such as the laws of physics, i.e. for every action, there’s an opposite reaction.

So what does that look like? Xi Jinping recently addressed that by saying:

  1. China will become the “financial center of the world”. Which is what Martin Armstrong for several years has said that by 2032, China will become the financial capitol of the world, replacing the US.

  2. China will become the #1 economy in the world, leapfrogging the US.

  3. The Renminbi will become the global reserve currency.
