Based on current crack spreads, diesel is trading as if crude oil is $140 per barrel. Diesel powers 80 percent of US freight, 80 percent of global sea trade, and most farming and mining. Adding to concerns, US diesel inventory has fallen below 2008 levels.
Additionally, crude oil in floating storage dropped 32 percent in one week to 82.85 million barrels. Middle East storage fell 66 percent, and the US Gulf Coast fell 69 percent. However, West Africa recorded an increase in stocks.
Geopolitics
According to Kpler data, six ships crossed the Strait of Hormuz yesterday. President Trump stated the waterway remains open, yet Iran claimed to have closed it. US Central Command has rejected Iranian assertions of control over the strait.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is conducting a cabinet reshuffle that began with the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, who had served since July 2025. Svyrydenko stated she was proud to have led during a difficult period and remained available to serve. Zelensky indicated she would take on a new foreign relations role. One lawmaker noted that cabinet resignations are uncommon outside the fall political season. Zelensky stated that Ukraine is changing its political strategy and that the Cabinet requires renewal, with experienced individuals assigned to priority foreign policy areas. Zelensky has continued to decline holding elections. Analysts have offered differing views on whether the reshuffle represents routine wartime adjustments or a consolidation of power.
Economy
Asian markets have recorded roughly $950 billion in losses after South Korea’s KOSPI fell 9.2 percent ($377 billion), Japan’s Nikkei fell 2.7 percent ($236 billion), China’s SSE fell 2.3 percent ($210 billion), Taiwan fell 3.1 percent ($127 billion), and India’s NIFTY fell 0.3 percent ($14.7 billion). Some accounts have downplayed the severity, calling the conflict a “nothing burger.”
Meanwhile, some commentators have opined that Japan’s economy is now breaking from three directions at once. First, the Bank of Japan drained ¥23.5 trillion ($146 billion) in Q2, the largest quarterly reduction in its QT cycle, and has reduced holdings by ¥116.9 trillion since the 2024 peak. The 10-year JGB yield reached 2.90 percent. PPI stood at 7.1 percent against a policy rate of 1.0 percent. Second, USD/JPY traded near 162. Third, Japan recorded 671,236 births in 2025, the lowest since 1899, with deaths exceeding births by over 900,000 for the second consecutive year. Debt-to-GDP stood at 204.4 percent. Some observers have described the coverage as sensational doom-posting, arguing that yields reflect deliberate normalization.
In America, Affordable Care Act premiums are set to increase in 2027. Early filings from 77 insurers showed a median proposed rise of 14 percent, according to Peterson-KFF. This follows a 20 percent median increase for 2026. Insurers cited a smaller risk pool after enrollment fell by roughly 3 million. Georgetown analysts project a further 17 to 26 percent enrollment decline, with state-level rate increases ranging from 7 percent in Vermont to 22 percent in Washington. Roughly 87 percent of current enrollees receive subsidies averaging $650 monthly. However, some claim that the vast majority of enrollees receive subsidies that shield them from the full impact of the increases.
US Politics
Senator Mitch McConnell, 84, stated he suffered a fall that left him briefly unconscious and later developed mild pneumonia. He denied suffering a heart attack, stroke, tumors, hemorrhages, broken bones, or a concussion and said he cannot yet return to the Senate floor. However, EMS audio had reportedly referenced an unconscious patient in cardiac arrest. Adding to the skepticism, the photograph released with the statement identically matches an image from April 2023, according to reports.

Kirk Assassination
In the Tyler Robinson case, prosecutors presented testimony from Robinson’s roommate, Lance Twiggs, who described Robinson’s confession and identified him in surveillance footage. Courtroom witnesses described high-definition footage of a man identified as Robinson on the UVU campus roof with a rifle. DNA from Robinson and Twiggs was recovered from the rifle and a towel. Twiggs testified that Robinson inquired about etching messages on bullets recovered with Antifa slogans. Robinson had confessed to family members, and the defense presented no alibi. A report stated the evidence supports a left-wing political motive. Some are calling the case a “slam dunk,” while others have highlighted claims of insufficient new evidence and gaps in the forensics.
Health
A Midwesten Doctor report on osteoporosis medicine stated that DEXA screening has directed patients toward drug treatments based on T-score criteria established by a WHO group funded by pharmaceutical companies. These cutoffs classified 80 percent of white women over 50 as having osteopenia or osteoporosis. A 2019 study found that nearly 73 percent of women and 94 percent of men who fractured bones did not have osteoporotic density. Machine and operator variance of 5–6 percent can alter diagnoses. The Swedish Council concluded that density measurements cannot identify individuals who will fracture. First-line bisphosphonates were described as disabling osteoclasts while carrying risks including esophageal erosion, jaw osteonecrosis, atypical fractures, atrial fibrillation, and musculoskeletal pain. Other factors cited as degrading bone quality included fluoride, hormone blockers, PPIs, SSRIs, and steroids.
