Dr. Malone Appointed to CDC Vaccine Committee, Tariffs Not Keeping Pace with Spending Increases

Health

Significant changes are underway at the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has retired 17 members and announced new appointees, including Dr. Robert Malone, aiming to refocus on scientific integrity and replication. This move aligns with NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya’s plan to launch a new journal prioritizing replication studies. However, there are concerns among public health advocates about potential disruptions in vaccine policy development due to these changes.

Economy

President Trump has announced a trade deal with China, setting U.S. tariffs at 55% and aiming to open Chinese markets. This deal includes provisions for rare earth exports and educational exchanges, but China has set a six-month limit on these exports. There’s skepticism regarding the specifics of the deal, particularly around the immediate supply of critical minerals by China.

Meanwhile, the US government collected a record $22.2 billion in tariffs in May, which accounted for 3% of the total government spending of $687.2 billion. Despite the increase in revenue, the fiscal situation remains challenging with a deficit of $316 billion for May. Some critics argue that while tariffs might boost short-term revenue, they could lead to higher costs for consumers and potentially harm trade relations.

Geopolitics

Russia has demanded that NATO withdraw its forces from the Baltic states and Eastern Europe to end the Ukraine war, highlighting ongoing tensions in the region. Baltic state officials have criticized this stance, calling it an attempt to revert to Soviet-era influence over Eastern Europe.

In the Middle East, Iran has warned the US that all its bases in the region are within reach if nuclear talks fail, amidst threats from Washington and increased tension in nuclear negotiations. However, Iran has consistently denied seeking nuclear weapons, insisting its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.

US Politics

In Los Angeles, recent riots have been linked to external funding from organizations reportedly with ties to the Democratic Party and the Chinese Communist Party. President Donald Trump responded by deploying the National Guard to restore order. This deployment was discussed in a budget hearing where Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth defended the decision against accusations from Democrat lawmakers, citing the need for federal intervention due to local governance issues. However, local activists have claimed that the unrest is a genuine response to systemic issues rather than a coordinated political strategy.

Related to immigration policy and within the context of understanding the riots, Jeffrey Tucker provides a historical perspective suggesting a shift from a once-tolerant policy to stricter enforcement post-9/11. Meanwhile, Dr. Naomi Wolf has expressed concerns about a potential Bolshevik-style revolution in America, predicting financial collapse and mass casualty events. Some critics argue that these predictions might be overstated, pointing to the broader social and economic issues fueling the unrest.

Energy

Maryland faces potential power issues with warnings of regular rolling blackouts due to policies focusing on environmental goals. The state’s push towards “net-zero” emissions without adequate new power generation capacity has led to concerns about energy stability. However, Maryland Democrats argue that these policies are aimed at sustainable development and reducing reliance on fossil fuels, which they believe is necessary for long-term environmental health.

Could have been a missed opportunity. Dr. Malone could have accepted and designated all payments to be made out to a fund benefitting the vaccine injured.

The first time I saw him was on The Dark Horse podcast and everything inside me said he was controlled opposition.
