I’m not so sure regarding Witkoff. That might be a little unfair to him. I as well as others who I listen to all say that he fully understands what the Russians want and are asking for. The Russians say that Witkoff gets and understands their demands and he presents that to Trump.
Witkoff is Trump’s liaison and presents the side of Trump that wants to end the war. The other side is when Trump listens to Marco Rubio, Keith Kellogg and Lady Graham. That’s when the Trump pendulum starts to swing and it swings towards the Neocons.

You’re right Witkoff has had a whole lot more reality dust sprinkled on him and I think he’s stuck between a rock and a hard place. Johnson, Davis, and McGovern have given him the benefit of the doubt as well.
