What I find so humorous is that these people aren’t even trying to be subtle. Bondi’s repeated “we will continue to follow the law” gambit already telegraphs that they will use the carve-outs to continue holding back salient parts, as much as possible.
Coincidentally, one carveout is for ongoing investigations… and wouldn’t you know it, the DoJ has started “investigating” this previously “closed” matter again. Since they control when to open and close investigations, they can withhold information at their leisure.
Anyone who complains about the withholding due to “ongoing investigations” can be accused of being anti-investigation of the matter at hand.
It would actually be quite brilliant, except that they have this need to be so on-the-nose, telegraphing this move, making it obvious for anyone who is paying attention. It’s actually infuriating to those of us who do pay attention.
