Araghchi noted mistrust but welcomed talks as a starting point, insisting enrichment continues at needed domestic levels and missiles are defensive. No breakthrough occurred, though further meetings are set; the U.S. imposed new sanctions on petroleum trade entities post-talks.
Ukraine has been described as a testing ground for AI-integrated warfare, with kill chains linking sensors, analytics, and weapons faster than human thought. A human operator views data streams as systems communicate autonomously. French Army command software now includes real-time AI analytics. U.S. Army 4th Infantry Division tested an AI lattice for target detection and assessment with Anduril, Microsoft, and Palantir software. U.S. Air Force Dash experiments showed AI planners outperforming humans in speed and tactical accuracy. A Ukrainian war-tech conference displayed AI drone boats with missiles, FPV swarms, ground robots, and previews of humanoid systems. Experts have warned of risks from fully autonomous killer machines.
Speaking of new weaponry, researchers at Shanghai’s Northwest Institute of Nuclear Technology developed the TPG1000Cs, a compact high-power microwave driver delivering 20 gigawatts for up to one minute, measuring four meters long and weighing five tons for mounting on trucks, warships, aircraft, or satellites. Prior systems like Russia’s Sinus-7 operated for seconds at lower power and heavier weights. Experts estimate over 1 gigawatt could disrupt low-Earth orbit satellites like Starlink. Skeptics highlight operational challenges including atmospheric attenuation, beam spread, and tracking rapidly moving satellites.
Economy
Asset tokenization converts real estate, stocks, bonds, gold, art, biometrics, health data, and human behavior into programmable blockchain tokens, enabling fractional ownership and instant trading, exemplified by BlackRock’s BUIDL tokenized Treasury fund reaching approximately $2.9 billion in assets. BlackRock CEO Larry Fink described it as the next stage for tokenizing all assets, according to reports. Issuers like BlackRock reportedly retain control over underlying assets, while token holders have revocable claims. Programmability enables tokens to expire or restrict access based on compliance. Investor brokerage accounts hold security entitlements rather than direct legal title to stocks or bonds, with assets pooled at the Depository Trust Company under nominee Cede & Co. Article 8 of the Uniform Commercial Code prioritizes brokers’ secured creditors over customers if control is established. Critics worry this tokenization of assets will facilitate The Great Taking. Historical cases include Lehman Brothers pledging customer securities to JPMorgan Chase before its 2008 collapse, freezing assets for years; Sentinel Management Group commingling and pledging customer funds in 2007, delaying recoveries; and MF Global accessing segregated accounts in 2011. In other crypto news, the GENIUS Act of July 2025 requires 100 percent reserves for stablecoins in cash or Treasuries, full KYC compliance, and bank licensing. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has supported dollar-backed stablecoins with AI and blockchain oversight for tracing and freezing transactions.
Epstein Files
Continuing to gain attention are Epstein’s alleged ties to Bitcoin’s development. Court files link him to Bitcoin’s development via $850,000 to MIT’s Media Lab Digital Currency Initiative, including $525,000 funding developers favoring small blocks and Lightning Network over larger blocks for scalability. Director Joi Ito reportedly concealed Epstein’s involvement, and Epstein reportedly invested $500,000 in Blockstream via Ito. Brock Pierce, referenced over 1,800 times in files, chaired the Bitcoin Foundation, co-founded Tether, brokered Epstein’s $3 million Coinbase investment, and met officials like Larry Summers at Epstein properties. A 2018 University of Texas study tied Tether issuances to half of Bitcoin’s 2017 price rise. The CFTC fined Tether $42.5 million for reserve misrepresentations. Cantor Fitzgerald, led by Howard Lutnick with reported Epstein ties, manages Tether’s reserves. Lutnick’s associate Bo Hines advanced the GENIUS Act before joining Tether’s U.S. subsidiary.
Meanwhile, several other Epstein stories are also making the rounds:
- Epstein emails reportedly allege underage girls gave birth at Zorro Ranch, with infants vanishing. One former staffer claimed two foreign girls were buried there after strangulation during fetish sex, linking to videos described as child pornography, underage sex, rape, and suicide attempts.
- FBI discussions under Kash Patel and Dan Bongino reportedly sought guidance to redact images of former presidents, a secretary of state, and celebrities.
- Department of Justice documents on Jeffrey Epstein’s August 2019 death include a U.S. Attorney’s Office statement dated August 9 announcing he was found unresponsive and pronounced dead, before corrections officers discovered him at 6:30 a.m. on August 10.
- Surveillance footage reportedly showed an orange-colored shape ascending stairs to his tier at 10:39 p.m. on August 9 and reappearing at 10:41 p.m., logged as possibly an inmate or officer with linens. Officers denied linen changes that shift.
Energy
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed concern over Cuba’s humanitarian situation, warning of collapse if oil needs remain unmet due to the U.S. energy blockade. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel stated the blockade caused blackouts disrupting schools, hospitals, and transportation, prompting fuel rationing plans. U.S. Navy and Coast Guard seized tankers for sanctions violations, with President Trump citing Cuba’s ties to Russia, China, Iran, and alleged terrorism support. A State Department official also accused Cuba of resource hoarding and denied oil ban links to food shortages.
