US Politics

Longtime Fauci advisor Dr. David Morens pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud the United States. Court documents state he used personal email to conduct official business to avoid FOIA requests, coordinated with EcoHealth Alliance on a grant, and sought to counter lab-leak discussions regarding COVID-19. Emails cited in the case include statements about deleting messages and avoiding records that could create issues for Anthony Fauci. Morens admitted discussing compensation for writing in favor of a natural origin for the virus. He faces up to five years in prison.

In election news, Florida state Rep. Angie Nixon, a Democratic National Socialist, defeated Alexander Vindman 56–44 in the Democratic Senate primary. Nixon raised $975,000 compared with Vindman’s $16.3 million. Nixon campaigned on Medicare for All, universal child care, and reduced military aid to Israel. She will face incumbent Republican Sen. Ashley Moody in November. Some commentary has described Nixon as a far-left candidate and a recent Democratic Socialists of America member.

Meanwhile, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries stated that Democrats should not rule out changes to the Supreme Court, including adding justices or setting 18-year terms, describing the Court as aligned with Republican positions. Kamala Harris has supported expanding the Court to 13 justices. Senate Democrats introduced legislation last month for 18-year terms. Jeffries also backed rules allowing legislation to pass by simple majority. Conservative sources have framed the remarks as signaling a potential partisan power grab.

Economy

Unrealized losses on domestic bonds held by Japan’s major life insurers reached 30.86 trillion yen as of the end of June, according to company filings. Nippon Life recorded 44 billion yen in impairment losses in the most recent quarter, while Meiji Yasuda recorded 25.3 billion yen. Policy cancellation rates have risen at several insurers. Core operating profits for 14 major insurers rose 37 percent year-over-year in April-June.

Meanwhile, Russians withdrew 286.4 billion rubles from banks in the first half of August, according to Central Bank data, which some are describing as a bank run. Sberbank executive Taras Skvortsov projected 2026 withdrawals could approach twice the level seen in the first year of the Ukraine conflict. The Finance Ministry canceled recent war-bond offerings. However, other reports indicate that bank savings remain at an all-time high and continue rising at about 10 percent annually.

Iran War

CNN reported that President Trump directed U.S. envoys to cease future negotiations with Iran. A U.S. official stated that allies have been informed of a strategy change. The same official described Iran’s posture as shifting from defensive to offensive. As reported yesterday, Iranian officials have signaled a potential shift to an offensive doctrine to deter the United States and Israel.

Geopolitics

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced sanctions Tuesday against International Criminal Court President Tomoko Akane and Senior Trial Lawyer Abdoulaye Seye. The sanctions, issued under a Trump executive order, target the officials for actions against individuals from states that have not consented to ICC jurisdiction. Rubio stated in July that the measures form part of a broader effort involving visa restrictions, sanctions, and diplomatic steps against the court, which the United States does not recognize. The ICC issued arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant in 2024. Three ICC judges and several human rights organizations have filed lawsuits claiming the sanctions are unconstitutional. Rubio indicated further actions are possible and called on other countries to reduce funding for the court. Japan’s Foreign Ministry has called the sanctions “unfortunate.”

Energy

China reportedly increased crude oil stockpiles by approximately 210,000 barrels per day in July, according to calculations by Reuters columnist Clyde Russell, despite the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Imports recovered from a decade-low level. China held an estimated 1.4 billion barrels in reserve at the start of the Iran conflict and has maintained stockpiles near 1.2 billion barrels. Relaxed fuel export rules supported the import increase, while refinery activity remained low. However, other analyses have reported significant drawdowns in Chinese oil stocks since the start of the conflict. Unlike the U.S., China does not publicly disclose inventory levels.

Iraq’s proposed Kirkuk-to-Banias pipeline to bypass the Strait of Hormuz through Syria is estimated to cost $15 billion and require four years, Reuters reported. Iraqi exports via Basra fell to 35.5 million barrels in July from 108 million before the conflict. The pipeline has not operated since the 1980s and would require new infrastructure.

Health

Merck stated that developing, manufacturing, and obtaining FDA approval for separate measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines could take up to 10 years. The combined MMR vaccine has been the only option in the United States since 2008. President Trump recommended separate shots when available. Former CDC adviser Robert Malone said separation might reduce adverse events. The CDC has stated there is no published evidence that separate administration improves safety. The White House indicated it would seek market-based approaches with manufacturers. Some state officials have indicated they will not adjust childhood vaccine schedules in response.

European Politics

Two weeks after an estimated 70,000 migrants crossed from Morocco into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, the Civil Guard reported at least 15 sexual assaults, including one case involving three brothers and a 10-year-old girl. Local reception centers reached capacity, with thousands of migrants remaining in public areas. Ceuta University Hospital activated additional capacity for cases of tuberculosis, scabies, and impetigo. A BBVA branch closed after an incident involving a guard. Migration Minister Elma Saiz commented on the city’s diversity. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez was on vacation during the period. NGOs assisted some migrants with asylum-related protests and a hunger strike. Some mothers requested a delay to the school year. Government sources have stated that most arrivals have returned to Morocco and that reasonable normality is being restored.

Artificial Intelligence

Unitree shares rose 460 percent on their Shanghai STAR Market debut after the company raised $904 million at a $9.1 billion valuation. The offering was oversubscribed 5,550 times. The firm shipped more than 5,500 humanoid robots in 2025. Its models range in price from $4,000 to $100,000. The Solactive China Humanoid Robotics Index declined 10 percent on the day of the listing. JPMorgan projects global humanoid robot shipments will reach 1.75 million by 2030. Skeptical views on Chinese social media have questioned the company’s valuation and described it as a “toy company.”

Privacy & Surveillance

A Manhattan bankruptcy judge will rule August 19 on Google’s $10 million bid to acquire roughly 600 million internal messages from Spirit Airlines. The data include 100 million emails, 500 million Teams messages, and 3.4 million payroll records. Passenger information is excluded. Google stated the material would be used for AI training. Other reports indicate the hearing has been delayed to September after objections from flight attendants on privacy grounds.

This shows the level of incompetence, the untruthfulness and outright lies from our own government. That statement is right up there with Narco Rubio saying the SOH is in international waters when the SOH is in the Persian Gulf and in Iran’s backyard.

So independence is our birthright and we will never let foreign bureaucrats take that away from us. So please explain to us Mr. Rubio how we are beholden to a rouge state such as Israel, how we do as Israel says, how we repeatedly go to war for Israel, how we lie for Israel, how we use our weapons and soldiers for Israel and best of all, how we have or are on the verge of merging our intelligence agencies?

Besides that Mr Rubio, i’m sure Israel had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with your decision to sanction the ICC President who wants to arrest BeeBee NuttenYahoo for genocide and war crimes.

More news:

Lindsay Graham’s sister is running for a six year term in the Senate. She has admitted in a debate that she does not know much about foreign policy.

Sen. Darline Graham, the late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s sister who was appointed to fill his vacant seat, admitted during a South Carolina GOP Senate debate that she is “not that informed on national security” as she campaigns for a full six-year term.

But she’ll support the war machine anyway.

Darline Graham, running for the war pig Lindsey Graham’s Senate seat, admits in a debate she knows nothing about Taiwan.

She knows nothing about the war machine — but she’ll vote for it anyway. AIPAC is probably already drafting the talking points.

Rubio is really sanctioning the ICC for declaring Netanyahu a war criminal. And that, Rubio declares, infringes on American Sovereignty! So he appears to be saying that Israeli sovereignty and American sovereignty are the same thing.

Well, not really. The fact is that the United States is a subsidiary of the State of Israel. What he is really saying is that he is speaking as Deputy Secretary of State for Israel. And the indictment of Netanyahu is a violation of Israeli sovereignty.

I guess that he just misspoke.

Quite true! We have became the United States of Israel decades ago. It’s just now become apparent as both sides have taken off their masks.

Perhaps those in the US did not heed George Washington’s warning with regards too “no foreign alliances and no foreign entanglements”.

“I promised to pass a death penalty law for Palestinians and I did it, now I’m building a facility to execute them, I’ll put cameras in and it will be possible to watch them die live.”

Itamar Ben Gvir, genocidal minister of “Israel,” is building extermination camps for Palestinians, where he will install cameras to watch them being executed live and will allow visits to witness their deaths.

This criminal is the reincarnation of Hitler, a historic psychopath who wants to turn the death of Palestinians into a sadistic public show.

Due process - or at least the appearance of it - is much much more important than I think is appreciated. It’s not a good look when you personally attack an international judge, as opposed to debating the problem you have with his legal decision in a court.

You have to be much smarter and much more subtle about these things.

Good work if you can get it!

@markm

I so agree. Rabbi Shmuley does not seem to understand the reaction that is elicited in non-Jews “being taught to fear the Jews” by abuse / intimidated.

I strongly suspect that the job of a Sayanim is a volunteer job. A religious duty.

Once again this shows the blurring of the lines between religion, ethnic identity, and militant Zionism.
