Epstein Files
Recent Epstein file releases have led to calls for accountability and several resignations. Congresswoman Nancy Mace called for a subpoena of Bill Gates to testify before the House Oversight Committee, citing emails in the documents that reference an alleged affair and health issues, including Epstein’s purported claims of Gates contracting an STD. Gates’ representatives stated the files show only Epstein’s unsuccessful efforts to reconnect.
Speaking of Gates, hosts of The View turned on him in discussions of the Epstein documents, with hosts like Joy Behar mocking his denials of deeper involvement—such as claiming he ‘knows nothing’ and ‘did nothing’ while emphasizing that not visiting Epstein’s island does not clear him—and others expressing skepticism about his explanations and calling for him to answer questions raised by the files and his ex-wife Melinda’s statements. Meanwhile, hosts Whoopi Goldberg (mentioned 21 times) and Alyssa Farah Griffin (20 times), also appeared in the files, with one email noting Goldberg’s reported request for Epstein’s jet to attend a charity event in Monaco, though the mentions reportedly appear incidental with no evidence of wrongdoing.
Moving to other Epstein fallout, Paul Weiss Chairman Brad Karp resigned after emails revealed regular communication with Epstein, including dinners and advice during his legal issues. Karp expressed regret, and the firm stated he never witnessed or participated in misconduct and regrets the interactions.
In the UK, former Labour Cabinet Minister Lord Peter Mandelson resigned from the Labour Party after emails reportedly showed sharing of sensitive government information during the 2009-2010 financial crisis, such as asset sales and a eurozone bailout tip-off, plus alleged payments totaling $75,000. Mandelson disputed the documents’ authenticity and resigned to avoid distraction; the Cabinet Office launched an investigation, and police are assessing potential misconduct.
Also in the UK, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew), brother of King Charles III, was stripped of his princely titles and honors in October 2025 over his links to Jeffrey Epstein. Buckingham Palace announced he would vacate Royal Lodge in Windsor early in 2026, but the move was expedited this month amid renewed scrutiny from the latest Epstein document releases. Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing; he relocated to a temporary property on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
In Slovakia, Prime Minister Robert Fico’s national security adviser Miroslav Lajčák resigned following email exchanges with Epstein about young women, although Lajčák denied any actual wrongdoing.
In Norway, Crown Princess Mette-Marit apologized for contacts from 2011-2014, including a stay at Epstein’s residence, stating she ended them upon recognizing his intentions.
Health
Tennessee Senator Janice Bowling introduced Senate Bill 1949, which would designate mRNA injections as biological weapons of mass destruction and ban their manufacture or distribution as a Class B felony. Similar measures have advanced in Arizona and Minnesota, though the Minnesota bill has drawn criticism as unlikely to pass.
In other vaccine news, Iowa legislators advanced a bill requiring medical examiners to note recent immunizations on death certificates for children dying from unknown causes, including Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, to collect data amid the U.S.’s reportedly higher SIDS rate compared to other industrialized nations.
In the autism space, nonverbal autistic young man Caden Larson joined the federal Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee, now helping guide billions in autism funding after developing communication by using spellers, though critics have labeled the method pseudoscience akin to discredited facilitated communication.
Moving to gender transition news, a New York jury awarded $2 million to 22-year-old detransitioner Fox Varian in a malpractice case against her psychologist and surgeon for a mastectomy at age 16. The court found Dr. Kenneth Einhorn and Dr. Simon Chin liable for omitting key psychological history and inadequate communication, amid evidence of pressure and unresolved gender questioning. Advocates for gender-affirming care emphasized the case focused on malpractice standards and cited low regret rates.
In other news, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. launched the $100 million STREETS program to support homeless individuals and those with addiction from street outreach to employment and housing, involving law enforcement, courts, and health systems. The initiative builds on executive orders treating addiction as a chronic disease. Kennedy also required hospitals to publish prices upfront, highlighting variations like baby deliveries from $1,300 to $22,000 near Manhattan, plus $10 million for mental health outpatient programs and faith-based recovery funding.
Speaking of addiction in the streets, San Francisco ended a program providing alcohol to homeless people struggling with addiction. Originally intended as a temporary program during COVID, it continued for six years at a cost of $5 million per year but reportedly only served 55 people despite the high cost.
US Politics
Border Czar Tom Homan reported authorities located over 145,000 previously unaccounted migrant children, as part of tracking more than 300,000 placed with unvetted sponsors under the prior administration. ICE, FBI, and HHS conducted welfare checks, with ongoing efforts involving state and local law enforcement. Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla criticized the enforcement efforts as terrorizing communities.
In news on free speech, Undersecretary of State Sarah Rogers announced a proposed “censorship shield law” to block enforcement of foreign speech restrictions, such as the UK’s Online Safety Act and EU’s Digital Services Act, in the U.S., aiming to protect First Amendment rights and American platforms. Rogers cited opposition to extraterritorial rules, including Britain’s handling of non-crime hate incidents. EU officials defended the DSA as promoting platform accountability for safety.

Thirty-four Oklahoma lawmakers petitioned the state Supreme Court to halt Service Oklahoma’s plan to upload all driver license and ID records—names, birth dates, partial Social Security numbers—to the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators’ State-to-State network and SPEXS database. The filing argues no state law authorizes this beyond federal REAL ID needs, noting risks of losing control once data syncs nationally, including non-compliant licenses. The upload is slated for Presidents’ Day weekend 2026.
