A fact that might be of use for some in the state of NC: If you have medical power of attorney for someone you are legally able to obtain and make all decisions regarding their body after death.

This detail might help married couples or parents with adult children who have such a document in place.

Compounding this tragedy for inland areas like western NC: Many people will find that the homes they lost are not covered by their insurance. Not only is the home gone, but also their entire investment.

Flooding is not covered by the typical policy; you need separate flood insurance. People who live inland are often unaware of this and/or never imagined they would need the coverage. I’m only aware of this because, professionally, I’ve done a lot of writing on home buying/ownership topics. I’m assuming the federal government will step up in only a limited way.

Interesting hypothesis on why so many are reporting toxic water…

Does anyone have any contacts/info on where/how/to whom deliver supplies to maximize benefit and minimize chance of interference? I am part of a volunteer effort at a festival in Lake George New York this weekend to collect and deliver supplies by rental truck. We have contacts down there and the headliner band lives in the damaged area, but any info or insight will be helpful.

Hey, just as a general reminder, the Rockefeller foundation’s Scenarios for the Future of Technology and international Development has told us the plan already…they intend to do everything to make the citizens of the west lose all faith in their own governments and heat things up to the point that the people will be begging for the UN to intervene. The scenario is called Lockstep. Page 18

Whenever I see the Feds deliberately showing us they hate us I remind myself of this paper.

This is a good bit of information!

My cousin serves on a Coast Guard rescue helicopter based in the Carolinas. Even though they are experts in helicopter based rescues in dangerous conditions, they were sent home after the first day. Nothing to do here. Everything’s good, nobody needs to be rescued or helped. It’s unfathomable!

Laura just posted this. If this is happening in Asheville I can’t imagine the struggle more remote areas are facing.

Hi Danina:

I’m not on Facebook either and I was able to view it. Just FYI. But one of my nicknames from my friends is “the Amish girl” (though not Amish) referring to my technical skills, so I can’t help you there. :frowning:

More on the ground experiences with FEMA: x.com

I have seen the best of people and the worst of people in the last week. I came down here a week ago to help out where I could. And i have seen horrible destruction, incredible bravery, inconceivable cruelty, and the most heartwarming out pouring of support by my fellow Americans. There have been a steady stream of donations rolling in every day from before sunrise until after sunset. And there has also been a steady stream of people who haven’t eaten, bathed, had a full nights sleep, or even had clean water to drink. The shell shocked look has imbedded itself in my soul. And when I see it, i or another volunteer will go get a box and a bag for them, then try to help rebuild a sliver of what they lost. We’ll help them get some food, hygiene products, medical supplies, food for their animals, blankets and towels, and multiple cases of water as well as some gallons for bathing and cooking if they are fortunate enough to know someone that has a camp stove. We’ll hold their hand if they’d like and carry their ‘groceries’. And by the time they are ready to leave, they have overwhelming gratitude and even a bit less of the haunted look. And they straighten their shoulders a bit often fighting tears, but they have a little hope going into the unknown.
I am at the WNC Regional Livestock Center working from 7 am until we unload the last trailer and get the donations put away, usually around 10:30pm.
And I have experienced FEMA’s evil ways twice with both times having the FEMA idiots go away with their tail between their legs. I have watched two blackhawks land and take off, and a chinook land, take on six huge square bales, two pallets of livestock feed, hundreds of bottles of water, and medical supplies which I got to help load and meet the heroes taking the load to people that were completely cut off. I also got to help a whole squad of riders packing their horses and back packs to head to a mountain that wasn’t reachable by chopper. We are sending multiple UTV’s up the mountains with supplies as well. They are all heroes, every one of them!!
I will post more when I can but another trailer full of supplies just came in. God Bless Americans’s :pray::heart::pray::heart:

The universe is speaking to us now. The similarities between what’s going on down there and the book One Second After, is errie. What’s even more ironically errie is that it’s the exact same town, Black Mountain, NC. What are the chances…

We need photos or videos of the most dramatic claims in this thread. I’ve heard about so many bodies, yet not seen a single photo.

Thank you for your account, and more importantly for your efforts. May God bless you and all of the volunteers, and especially those personally impacted by the storm. Our prayers are with you all.:heart:
