Many of locals have photos but they aren’t going to share them out of respect for the dead. I’ve talked to some on the phone about this who said I have photos I’ve taken to help people find/identify loved ones. I will never share them. I get it.
I’ve talked to many people personally that have been up there and my husband and son are going to help this weekend. In the hard hit areas everyone says the same thing - the death toll is so much higher than you can imagine. This seems to be the sentiment of people on the ground over and over- whether first hand accounts of people I know or videos of people in the devastation. Someone from the L. governor office told me we know they have bodies there but we can’t always get to them. Some are buried under feet of mud… I do think they are hiding the death count. I advocate for a national public registry where citizens can update missing/deceased when natural disasters like this happen.

Thank you for sharing. I tried to create a filter view to determine the number of Found, Missing, Deceased Unverified, and Deceased Verified, but was unable to in View Only mode. I’ve never used Google Sheets, so will probably have to try and download it in Excel format. I’m wondering if you’ve tried to do that.
Just scrolling through the list it appears like people are not wanting to add entries for verified deceased, or are not aware of the list, both of which are understandable.
Yes I was going to download and sort later. Those on the ground I sent this to had not seen it yet so I’m sure tons are not being input/updated but it gives a scope of the problem. I didn’t join this group but I did find this on fb as well with 87,000 members. You are only supposed to join if searching for/missing someone. Insanely high numbers I guess it just serves to support the hypothesis that the reported numbers aren’t even close

That’s good fun book. I must say, having read a bunch of post-apocalyptic scifi, the books help one prepare. The best I’ve read in this regard is Dies the Fire (Amazon.com).

Another informative personal story from lady blue farm. I’ve been texting with her and believe her stories to be reliable. The first hand fema interview experiences need to get out to push them to help these people much better. It really sounds like they are shutting down a lot of secondary assistance. x.com
