Geopolitics

In a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee stated that Israel has a biblical right to land stretching from Egypt’s Nile to Syria’s Euphrates (and beyond), responding that “it would be fine if they took it all” when pressed on claims encompassing much of the Middle East, including areas like Jordan, Syria, and Iraq. He clarified that Israel is not seeking such expansion but aims to protect its people and secure the land it currently occupies. The remarks drew sharp condemnations from numerous countries and organizations, including Jordan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Türkiye, Indonesia, Qatar, Lebanon, Kuwait, Pakistan, Bahrain, Oman, Palestine, Syria, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League, and Gulf states, which described them as dangerous, inflammatory, and a threat to regional stability. Huckabee later issued a statement accusing Carlson of twisting his words on Zionism and related issues.

Meanwhile, the White House is reportedly considering a deal allowing Iran limited nuclear enrichment with no path to a bomb to avert strikes, including options targeting Ayatollah Khamenei, amid military buildup in the Middle East. Sen. Lindsey Graham has urged military strikes over diplomatic concessions. U.S. officials described a high bar for Iran’s proposal, which must address ballistic missiles, echoing but diverging from the Obama-era JCPOA that Trump exited.

Economy

President Trump raised yesterday’s 10% global tariffs to 15% effective immediately under Section 122 of the 1974 Trade Act, the maximum allowed for 150 days without congressional approval, following a Supreme Court ruling against prior tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. Trump described the ruling as “ridiculous and anti-American.” Critics including Rep. Jasmine Crockett have warned that the tariffs could raise consumer prices. The administration plans further tariffs under Section 301 based on trade practices.

The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, which provides over $30 billion annually in block grants to states, has drawn bipartisan criticism for oversight issues and misuse. Audits in states including Connecticut, Louisiana, and Florida found inaccurate reporting, untracked contractor spending, and diversions to programs such as college scholarships for middle-income families, anti-abortion centers, a Mississippi volleyball stadium, and an Ohio nonprofit linked to fraud. Federal data shows direct cash aid to about 849,000 families monthly in fiscal 2025, down from 1.9 million in 2010, with much funding directed to nonprofits and state agencies. The Government Accountability Office identified deficiencies in 37 states and noted opaque accounting. Analyses from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities argue that certain Trump administration freezes on TANF funds to states including California and Illinois are unlawful. Estimates indicate up to $6 billion may be misspent yearly.

Privacy & Surveillance

Initiatives to tokenize natural ecosystems and human elements as digital assets on blockchain ledgers are advancing, led by financial institutions and figures including BlackRock CEO Larry Fink. Key examples include:

  • O.N.E. Amazon’s Internet of Forests — uses satellites and sensors for real-time monitoring of preserved areas
  • Natural Asset Companies — designed to list ecosystems on traditional exchanges
  • Estonia’s Single Earth — focuses on tokenizing forests and biodiversity
  • Central African Republic’s Sango Project — involves tokenizing land and natural resources
  • Australia’s National Australia Bank green stablecoin — linked to agricultural assets

Parallel efforts are applying tokenization to human elements by digitizing data, behaviors, and skills into tradable units, often through digital IDs and programmable currencies. Examples include World Bank human capital metrics, biometric systems for refugee aid, and skill tokens for gig workers.

Critics warn that such tokenization risks commoditizing public commons and eroding national sovereignty. Proponents argue it aligns financial capital with conservation goals and enables more effective impact investing.

Artificial Intelligence

OpenAI employees flagged interactions by Jesse Van Rootselaar with ChatGPT in June 2025 describing gun violence scenarios months before his February 10, 2026, rampage that killed eight in Canada. They decided against notifying police, deeming no imminent threat, and banned his account instead. OpenAI concluded the messages lacked evidence of an imminent risk of serious physical harm. OpenAI contacted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police after the incident. Van Rootselaar, who transitioned at age 12, had prior police mental health visits and built a mass shooting Roblox game. This story highlights the challenge of balancing public safety and right to privacy.

In other news, a New York judge entered default judgment against Affable Avenue LLC after lawyer Steven Feldman admitted AI generated 14 of 60 fake case citations in briefs for a lawsuit over $1 million in stolen toys resold on Amazon. The judge sanctioned Feldman to pay plaintiffs’ fees, citing Rule 11 duties and warning against AI shortcuts. Some observers have argued that defaulting the client amounted to excessive punishment.

Energy

Japan committed $36 billion in initial investments under a $550 billion U.S. trade deal, including the world’s largest natural gas power plant at 9.2 GW capacity in Ohio operated by SoftBank subsidiary SB Energy, a synthetic diamond factory, and the Texas GulfLink deepwater oil port with 1 million barrels daily export capacity. Some reports have questioned the binding nature of the Japanese commitments. The projects aim to boost U.S. grid reliability, manufacturing, and crude exports generating $20-30 billion annually.

Meanwhile geothermal technologies are reportedly expanding, from The Riverie’s geoexchange system in Brooklyn using 320 boreholes to cut heating and cooling emissions by 53% to enhanced geothermal drilling deeper into Earth using fracking and fusion techniques. Backed by investors including Bill Gates and Google, startups like Fervo Energy target 90 gigawatts by 2050, enough for 65 million homes. Analyses note challenges including high upfront costs and technical hurdles with injection designs. AI is aiding site mapping amid rising data center demand.

European Politics

A Berlin appeals court ordered Elon Musk’s X platform to provide two German-based NGOs, Democracy Reporting International and Society for Civil Rights, with public data on Hungary’s parliamentary elections scheduled for April 12, 2026. The February 17 ruling under the EU’s Digital Services Act followed X’s refusal to share data requested in November 2025 for monitoring disinformation and foreign interference. The NGOs receive funding from the European Commission and German government. MCC Brussels, which launched the Democracy Interference Observatory, argues the ruling empowers EU-linked entities to influence national elections. U.S. House Judiciary Committee documents cited EU interference in eight European elections, including Romania’s 2024 presidential vote, which was annulled over alleged Russian TikTok activity despite TikTok finding no evidence of coordination. The committee highlighted institutional content governance steering political speech.

Health

Health and Human Services clarified that the FDA is not retreating on artificial dyes but is fixing labeling so natural colors need not be marked artificial, to reduce confusion and encourage transitions. This comes after several articles were written alleging that HHS was reversing course on cracking down on petroleum-based food dyes. Critics have described the change as potentially creating consumer confusion over additive safety. Meanwhile, the agency is reviewing titanium dioxide safety, with industry commitments to phase it out.

Huckabee simply is not smart enough to represent the US at the ambassador level, or to be interviewed by Tucker Carlson. Huckabee is entitled to think, and even to speak (for himself) about Israel dominating the ‘biblical lands,’ but he also thinks and speaks on behalf of the nation.

For those of you who do not have a subscription to Tucker Carlson, his introduction to the interview is more concerning than the miscellaneous utterances by Huckabee. Recommend you folks listen to how Carlson was harassed and threatened not just by Israel but by the US going along with those threats and not even attempting intervene and protect a legitimate journalist like Carlson. It illustrates how incredibly blind we are then two peoples engage in annihilation.
The war in the Middle East is genocidal. The Palestinians want to wipe out (kill, destroy, humiliate, rape, put into slavery etc.) the millions of people in Israel and those who are so endangered can only respond in kind. The Tucker introduction shows that he, as a thought-representative of many Americans, has no awareness of what genocide really means to people, the finality, the unfairness, the horrors, to who are so threatened. For we Americans, our government has no answers, no solutions, and needs to stay thousands of miles away. We need to accept absolutely no broadcasts of the horrors all of what this genocide-thinking entails.

Isnt Huckabee just reciting multiple Bible verses which explicitly state the dimensions laid out by God? I’m confused as to why quoting the Bible would be controversial.
