Iran, NYC, and the Descent into Chaos

Originally published at: https://peakprosperity.com/the-signal-hour-today-at-1pm-et-7/

In today’s Signal Hour, Evie and I delved into the chaos of recent global events, trying to make sense of it all. We started with the escalating tensions between Israel, Iran, and the U.S., discussing the unexpected bombings and the subsequent reactions. It’s been a whirlwind, with missiles flying and claims of mission accomplishments, but the truth remains murky.

We also touched on the alarming situation in New York City, which seems to be following in London’s footsteps with rising crime and social issues. The election of Zoran Mamdani as the Democratic nominee for mayor, with his radical policies, might just push New York further down this path. His plans for rent freezes, decriminalizing sex work, and defunding the police are, in my view, recipes for disaster.

On a personal note, the heat here on the East Coast has been intense, making me appreciate the simple comforts like air conditioning. But as we discussed these global and local issues, it’s clear that the world is getting more complex and, frankly, crazier by the day.

We also couldn’t ignore the hypocrisy of figures like Jacinda Ardern, who now speaks of empathy and unity after previously enforcing divisive policies during the Covid-19 crisis. Her recent comments on needing to tackle climate change by ensuring everyone believes in it, rather than proving its effectiveness, highlight a troubling trend of authoritarianism under the guise of progressivism.

In all this, the underlying theme is the erosion of personal freedoms and the rise of state control, often justified by crises or noble causes. It’s a reminder to stay vigilant, question the narratives, and hold onto our rights. Remember, as we navigate these turbulent times, to take care of yourselves and each other. We’ll be back next Wednesday to continue this conversation. Stay cool, and see you then.

The Signal Hour is a livecast hosted by Dr. Chris Martenson every Wednesday at 1 PM Eastern Time. As a seasoned Information Scout, Chris sifts through global events to distinguish meaningful signals from the noise, offering clear insights in an era where mainstream media’s trustworthiness is questioned. The show explores critical topics like political shifts, economic trends, and societal challenges, fostering informed discussions on issues shaping our future. With free speech at its core, The Signal Hour empowers viewers to navigate complex information and engage with a vibrant community seeking truth and resilience.

Freezing rents could be a good thing. It might drive a case to the Subprime Court which could get all rent control declared unconstitutional.

the clip from NYC - there seems to be no women? only men lying on the streets?

edit: never mind, after re-watching on slower speed, I can see some women too.

Watched many of this teacher lessons. He has different viewpoint. Of course need to take into account he lives in Beijing or HK, so he gotta moderate some things and opinions based on that, same as everywhere, to not get into trouble with authorities(eg a bit too much Putin admiration, although also critique).

That being said he gives very deep views that are not present in other places(this shows well how western or spesific school/university/country culture dictates our views “smaller” into a box).

Brave browser AI says this on how drugs were used in the UK on the elderly for covid, astounding!:

Midazolam, a benzodiazepine medication primarily used for anesthesia and procedural sedation, has been linked to euthanasia practices in the UK, particularly involving elderly patients in long-term care homes during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Reports and analyses suggest that high doses of Midazolam, often combined with Morphine, were administered to vulnerable elderly individuals, leading to their deaths, which were subsequently labeled as “COVID-19 deaths”.2 This practice allegedly contributed to the spike in excess deaths observed in April 2020 across various regions of England, with statistical analyses indicating a strong correlation (over 90 percent) between Midazolam usage and these excess deaths.1

The use of Midazolam in euthanasia protocols is not unique to the UK; in Canada, it is reported to be part of Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) procedures, being used in approximately 91% of such cases.2 However, the context and implications of its use in the UK during the pandemic have raised significant ethical and legal concerns. The administration of this drug outside hospital settings, specifically in long-term care facilities, has been highlighted as a particularly contentious issue.2

In palliative care, Midazolam is typically used to manage refractory symptoms such as pain, anxiety, and delirium, with dosages varying based on the patient’s condition and response to the medication.3 The typical starting dose for continuous palliative sedation in the Netherlands, for example, is around 31 mg every 24 hours, with adjustments made according to the patient’s needs.3 However, the dosages reportedly used in the UK during the pandemic appear to be significantly higher, suggesting a shift from palliative care to euthanasia.2

The ethical implications of these practices have been widely debated, with some arguing that the use of Midazolam in this manner constitutes a form of systemic euthanasia, potentially violating the rights and dignity of the elderly population.1 These allegations have prompted calls for further investigation into the circumstances surrounding these deaths and the policies that may have facilitated them.

Remember it’s racist to have such concerns. Or to associate They Who Shall Not Be Named with such cultural changes. /sarc

How to pay for NYC’s free child care? its easy identify the <50% of the population that makes more than the 51% of the voters and just tax their income and make them pay 100% for it for the rest… success is greedy and bad… so its FREE for the 51% of the voters… see democracy in action :frowning: … not really sure this fits under taxation without representation… since 51% can vote for someone else to pay and not them… but there it is…

Does NYC have VAT/GST for anything you buy in stores? In nordics we have high VAT because inevitably that <50% cant cover when majority are using so much taxpayer services. Thus additional small taxes are added everywhere, practically mandatory in daily life.
I saw studies that show, looking pure numbers from city perspective, paying eg 300-500$ per kid per month to parent is cheaper than letting them get childcare. It is surprisingly expensive to have kid on childcare in total costs.

With Mamdani, Im surprised, is that best immigrants can offer? US now, from African continent. However dont know where middle eastern name is from. Maybe wikipedia is censored to hide bad stuff of him.

Views from NYC make me think of India and big cities there, when westerners have habit of mocking and getting surprised people sleep on park benches in +40C or higher heat in summer. Well NYC is same now… Indian higher class, eg engineers and such want to work in west to escape that.

They are setting the table for anyone paying attention and inclined to act on advance information. It is likely less the Iranians and more likely the UK govt that is cause for concern. Of course they can and may make Iranians the fall guys for their engineered chaos.

“… They added “Iranian hostile activity on British soil” is to be expected and that they will attempt to disrupt critical supply lines and energy infrastructure.”

Iran did negotiate. They reached an agreement under Obama. Trump shredded it.
Iran did negotiate. They had reached an agreement in principle with Trumps negotiator and he went back to Trump to give the good news. They were going to meet again on Monday to fine tune the details. They were bombed over the weekend.

The problem is in defining “the rich”. Considering the wealth gap is now stretched to extremes probably never seen before in US history, can you blame struggling people for wanting to tax the rich? Rather than lamenting their justifiable envy, why don’t we spread the word about who the truly “rich” oppressors are. It’s not the business people taking on the risk of opening a store.
What about Soros and his type? Do you think he deserves to pay more taxes? Is Soros creating genuine job opportunities for little people with his wealth?

@eviemartenson…that poem you read reminded me of something i read on twitter today…and made me feel sad for all the losses these past 5 years…including the 4 generation family home on the water. But i can still remember the smell of the roses and the ships going by…

I read today on twitter “When nostalgia feels like a relic, the future is already lost”. G.K. Chesterton.
