A good assortment of files, stones, axe stone, and maybe a few Speedy Sharps,
I found one of these Friday. Thought to use it for father-in-laws bedsores, but this is better.

Manure ā animal or even human ā is flying high, due to fertilizer shortage
The Green Markets North American Fertilizer Price Index is hovering around an all-time high at $1,072.87 per short ton, while in China, spot urea has soared more than 200% this year to a record. The demand for dung is playing out globally. In Iowa, manure is selling for between $40 to $70 per short ton, up about $10 from a year ago and the highest levels since 2012, according to Daniel Anderson, assistant professor at Iowa State University and a specialist on manure.
I keep about equal amounts of sugar as salt to go along with Prague #1.
THAT, was great! Thanks.
binoculars or monocular and insect repellent. more insect repellent.
A compressor is useful for so many different applications. Just found a nice used one for my daughter. Mine gets used all the time.
And if you are in Australia and unable to get a gun licence (all applications in our state of Victoria were paused last year or the year before) you might just need that pitchfork for more than gardening. I do know that a fine pointed antique ladies fork leaves permanently embedded dirt and a good scar in the top of ones toe. Sometimes all you have to work with is all you have to hand.
Great ideas! A few more things:
- Extra prescription glasses, sunglasses and readers. Extra prescription glasses (or 2-3 pair) are essential when you canāt get more and run out of saline soluton/contacts.
- Lice medicine. Not the most romantic prepper item, but sanitation will change, and lice will make you miserable. Or kill you quickly via typhus.
- Anti-diarrheals: Diarrhea is the #1 killer of children in the developing world. And not great for adults either.
- WD-40.
- Desitin: Not just for babies butts, desitin is a miracle skin healer.
- Kelly kettle: because boiling water is a must.
- Experience using all the items you have. The time to experiment is now.
Tubes and tires for the equipment. Wheelbarrows, wagons, etc
Spare for the well pump. Have dups (at least) for your critical water preps
Thanks for freshening this thread! Iād love to hear more from folks since the thread first started. Iām really smack dab in the middle of rethinking a lot of what weāre doing and how weāre doing it, so any thoughts would be helpful!

Wow, thanks for taking the time to share all of this, @thecountmc! Iād say we have a lot covered, but are always looking to update, add on, and also let go of things, depending on various factors.
Glues: Epoxies of various types, plastic pipe cement, silicone rubber sealants, gasket making silicones, cloth/leather glues, waterproof and fuel proof sealants, wood glues.
Been reading through your list again. Can you say more about your antique hand crank washing machine? What kind (brand?) is it and where did you manage to find it? My grandmother used to have one, but Iāve not been able to find one thatās worth its salt. All Iāve found are options for non-electric washing machines (if you want to call them that) online. Iām ready to get a big tub and a wringer to attach.
Also, what rechargeable battery system do you have or recommend? When Iāve looked at these systems in the past, Iāve not been happy weāve not invested in one. We have solar generators and can recharge just about anything.
Thanks! And anyone else who can also offer their two cents on the subject of non-electric washing machines or rechargeable battery systems is welcome to chime in, too!)
I dont know the brand have look when im at the shop see pic belowā¦it might need little work or sealed but its all there so it should be easy to fix if neededā¦ I also got a giant sit down foot pedal grinding stone at the same placeā¦ I dont know if its worth its salt or notā¦havenāt tried it yetā¦ Iām have it and not need vs need it and not have it kind of guyā¦ most of em run $300ā¦ saw it for a $100 decided why not drag it to the shopā¦
I find all this stuff on facebook marketplaceā¦occasionly craigslistā¦
right now I buy used but tested swap out solar farm AGMās 12V for $80 from used solar dealers for the shop because they are cheap on facebook marketplaceā¦ everybody says lithium are the way to go I just havent been able to divert that kind of coinā¦ even used lithium are 10X the $
at home my solar generator is lithium thoughā¦ a 2200W Generator BLUETTI AC200MAX Solar Power Station 2084Wh I bought it remanufactured with warranty from Bluetti direct off ebay for $850ā¦ seems they dump their returns thereā¦ it retails for $1700 on amazonā¦ I figured at over 50% off under 1k with warranty why notā¦ while its still small and would have trouble running much 24/7 I can still run the freezer for a couple hours a day and I figured having one big enough to at least charge the EV even 10 miles a day with solar was better than 0 milesā¦ my 400watt did ok for phones and laptop during the ice storm, but Im going to run that and Hamms, and forget the freezer etcā¦ well bigger is betterā¦ amazon sells portable 300 watt panels for now as cheap as $215ā¦ I was paying $240 DOKIO 300W 18V Portable Solar Panel Kit Folding Solar Charger with 2 USB Outputs for 12v Batteries/Power Station AGM LiFePo4 RV Camping Trailer Car Marineā¦ guess I have to get a 3rd one now as my generator can handle up to 900wattā¦ I had to buy a pigtail wire with differnet ends to plug the Bluetti into the Dokio panels but it was only $20 to connect up to 4 panelsā¦
I also bought an antique functional singer sewing machine like grandma used to have for $50 well just becauseā¦ I was too slow to snag a boot/leather industrial model for $300 because I thought the price was highā¦ in retrospect I discovered they go for $1500ā¦ well maybe next time.
yesterday I drug home a functional WW2 Mash surgery light from the building recycle center for $40 while looking for windowsā¦ when I saw it I was mainly interested in the giant 2x2x2 box for a rat proof pantryā¦ but when i looked inside, pretty sure at 1942 thats EMP proof so for $40 it came home tooā¦
And donāt forget a couple of Locking Carabiners. I got some for my family and they looked at me like HUH??? But we already have used them. Donāt get cheap ones. Spend the $$ for the real deal.
