US Politics & News

The Biden administration is reportedly considering preemptive pardons for Adam Schiff, Liz Cheney, and Anthony Fauci, according to a tweet by LeadingReport. This move, if true, could have significant political implications, though details remain sparse. Both Schiff and Cheney have denied any need for a pardon, labeling the rumors as baseless distractions. The White House has refrained from commenting on hypothetical scenarios, while some commentators suggest the consideration of pardons might be a strategic move to protect key figures from potential legal challenges.

Meanwhile, the FBI’s counterintelligence operations are under scrutiny as Cash Patel, a former Justice Department official, is reportedly at the center of an investigation. Allegations suggest that the FBI is employing tactics similar to those used against Donald Trump, with leaks to media outlets like CNN raising questions about the agency’s internal dynamics. Patel, known for his work supporting veterans and whistleblowers, is being investigated for potential corruption, despite his reputation for integrity. This situation highlights ongoing concerns about the FBI’s culture and the need for systemic reform, as emphasized by whistleblower Steve Friend. Notably, Senator Ted Cruz has publicly supported Patel for the position of FBI Director, citing his qualifications and potential to restore public trust in the agency.

In Midtown Manhattan, United Health Care CEO Brian Thompson was shot multiple times outside the Hilton Hotel, and the suspect remains at large. This incident has prompted a wide manhunt and the cancellation of United Health Care’s annual investor day. The NYPD is actively pursuing leads, describing the suspect and seeking public assistance.

Moving to immigration, an internal Department of Homeland Security report highlights the failure to safeguard vulnerable immigrant children, many of whom may be victims of human trafficking. This situation has prompted calls for accountability and action to locate missing children (reportedly over 300,000) and ensure their safety. The Department of Health and Human Services has reportedly been working to improve the vetting process for sponsors, implementing new protocols to address these concerns.

Finally, the surveillance state continues to expand, with the Rutherford Institute highlighting the monitoring of individuals through government and corporate technologies. This surveillance, facilitated by tools like geofencing and facial recognition, poses significant threats to privacy and freedom, despite assurances of safety. The Electronic Frontier Foundation has been vocal about the need for stronger privacy laws, criticizing the expansion of these technologies.

Geopolitics

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, with Russia advancing in eastern Ukraine and reclaiming territory in Kursk. The tension is compounded by Russia’s demand for Ukraine to remain neutral and President Zelenskyy’s resignation, a challenging proposition for any future Ukrainian leader. As Donald Trump prepares to take office, the potential for a ceasefire remains uncertain, with significant territorial and economic stakes at play. Ukrainian forces are actively defending against Russian advances, emphasizing the importance of international support to bolster their defense capabilities.

In a related development, Tucker Carlson has returned to Moscow, warning of an increased risk of nuclear conflict between the U.S. and Russia. Carlson’s interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov underscores the diplomatic freeze between the two nations, as the Biden administration reportedly refrains from engaging in dialogue. However, the U.S. State Department has refuted claims of cutting off all communication, emphasizing ongoing efforts to manage the situation responsibly.

Economy

The global economy faces challenges due to complexity and resource constraints. The need for simplification is becoming apparent as issues like income inequality and unsustainable systems lead to political upheaval. Historical examples, such as the Soviet Union’s collapse, illustrate the potential consequences of unchecked complexity. As resources become scarcer, a shift towards local manufacturing and reduced international trade may be necessary. The Wall Street Journal reports that the Trump administration is considering significant changes to federal spending, aligning with the idea of economic simplification.

Chris Hedges nails it, I think. He says he wouldn’t be surprised if the shooter was related to a loved-one who died/bankrupted after UHC declined payment for healthcare and/or forced the family into bankruptcy.
If I remember correctly, we were pondering the social unrest of the future here on PP and someone speculated that the danger to the upper middleclass and higher was that once the SHTF the shooters don’t care who you are, good or bad, the pain is too great.
And now, for something completely different :

We were close to nuclear war a couple of times.

  1. Once when Russia made its first nuclear warheads, U.S. considered a preventive nuclear strike.
  2. When China made its first nuclear warheads, Russia considered to strike on it.
  3. During the Egypt-Izraeli war.
  4. During NATO’s Able Archer '83 nuclear drill.
  5. Israel considered couple of times to strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
    Any other? Someone knows?

Military experts warn us Russia will preventive conventional strike on Ukraine when nuclear warheads would be there.

I cant say for sure but Pakistan and India have probably come close several times.

India and China have massive border disputes but are unlikely to nuclear anytime soon. Due to their border arrangements they fight with sticks and stones man to man and dozens have been killed on both sides in recent years.

I dont think any chance that things can or will go nuclear if Israel and/or the US destroys or attempts to destroy the Iranian nuclear program.

China and Russia have some border issues, but it is far away from nuclear conflict.

When I remember correctly, U.S. general McArthur has requested for nuclear strike against chinese troops but it was declaned. I’m not sure it was Korean or Vietnam war.
