Zelensky is a puppet of warmongers, warmongers who funneled hundreds of billions of dollars of cash and arms to Ukraine so that well connected people could steal it. Not many people had had expectations that the warmongers would listen to a voice of reason.
Trump basically told Zelensky the US wouldn’t be sending more money and arms to Ukraine - he didn’t really do anything that would demand Zelensky honor his wishes.
It’s rather suspicious that senators Lindsey Graham (R) and Richard Blumenthal (D) met with Zelensky shortly before these strike occurred. They possibly committed Logan act violations (no one except the president or officially appointed people are supposed to try to sway foreign policy, or negotiate with foreign leaders).
While I definitely disagree with a LOT of Israel’s policies toward the Palestinians, its unfriendly neighbors and COVID, I don’t disagree with decapitating strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities. Trump is definitely not upset, and is sending mixed messages about whether he knew the strikes were imminent or not.
Trump may have basically told Netanyahu “Don’t tell me when, I don’t want to know” so he could distance himself a little bit.
As far as the Musk/Trump spat, I think Musk was rightly pissed to see a pork laden spending bill that codified exactly none of the changes he and his DOGE team had recommended. This was after months of very long hours, massive public attacks including death threats, Tesla cars and dealerships being firebombed, Tesla stock tanking, and so on.
Musk may not understand fully the limits of what congress can do when faced with the 60% hurdle faced in the senate. Trump made a mistake when he accused Musk of having had a lot of time to see what was in the “BBB”, when he had no time. That, plus the stress made Musk snap. He apologized though. Hopefully they can get back to working together at least.
