Stablecoins, CBDCs, and Nuclear War as Russiagate Heats Up

President Trump signed an executive order on January 23 to prohibit the development of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), citing concerns about personal freedom, and has pledged to pursue permanent legislation to block them. In contrast, Trump supports the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act, which regulates stablecoins backed by U.S. Treasuries to increase dollar demand and stimulate economic growth. Supporters, including crypto czar David Sacks, have praised the initiative. Opponents, including former Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, argue that CBDCs could enhance financial efficiency and security, cautioning against dismissing them outright.

Trump’s broader economic strategy reportedly includes using stablecoins to maintain global dollar demand, alongside investments in Treasuries and Bitcoin, as a means to bolster U.S. financial interests. This approach, combined with tariffs, aims to address declining international demand for U.S. debt, though some analysts note potential domestic challenges, including automation and impacts on living standards. Critics also warn that reliance on stablecoins could introduce volatility and undermine Federal Reserve control over monetary policy.

Financial analyst Martin Armstrong has expressed concerns about economic and geopolitical trends, predicting significant risks, including nuclear conflict by 2026 due to tensions over Ukraine. He has also voiced skepticism about the GENIUS Act, comparing it to the 1863 National Bank Act and warning of potential government overreach through mechanisms like debanking, pointing to Europe’s cash restrictions as a precedent. However, some mainstream analyses suggest the risk of nuclear escalation remains low due to ongoing diplomatic efforts and economic interdependence among nations.

US Politics

Investigative reporter Paul Sperry has released texts and emails suggesting that the Hillary Clinton campaign coordinated with the Obama White House in July 2016 to promote the Trump-Russia collusion narrative. Declassified documents released by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard reportedly indicate that Obama was aware of inaccuracies in the narrative. Gabbard has stated that additional files and whistleblower affidavits from the Obama era to the DOJ will be released, and she has questioned why special counsels Mueller and Durham did not address these alleged issues. Critics, including some mainstream outlets, argue that the evidence does not conclusively prove direct coordination or a hoax, suggesting the investigation was based on legitimate concerns about foreign interference.

Additionally, Steve Bannon possesses 15 hours of unreleased interviews with Jeffrey Epstein from 2018-2019, originally intended for a documentary now delayed until early next year. Epstein’s brother and others have suggested that Bannon may have sought to improve Epstein’s public image, while Bannon has claimed the content relates to intelligence services and has called for a special counsel to investigate institutional connections within the recordings. Some analysts, however, express skepticism about the tapes’ significance, suggesting they may reflect more of Bannon’s agenda than new revelations about Epstein.

Robert Malone has questioned the FDA’s approval of Moderna’s Spikevax COVID-19 vaccine, indicating the approval came while Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and key staff were on vacation. The vaccine received FDA approval on July 10, 2025, for high-risk children aged 6 months to 11 years, targeting the KP.2 variant. Updated warnings accompany the approval, noting risks such as myocarditis. Some groups have raised concerns about limited pediatric safety data and the transparency of the decision-making process, with calls for detailed risk-benefit analyses. Moderna’s stock rose ahead of the announcement. Conversely, Moderna and the FDA emphasize the vaccine’s role in protecting vulnerable populations, underscoring the rigorous scientific review behind the approval.

Separately, Sarepta Therapeutics Inc. is under review after declining an FDA request to suspend shipments of its gene therapy Elevidys following the deaths of three patients—two teenage boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and a 51-year-old in a limb-girdle muscular dystrophy trial—all linked to acute liver failure. The FDA is evaluating whether Elevidys should remain on the market. Sarepta has stated that it sees no new safety signals in ambulatory patients. The company’s shares fell over 30% following the news. Some experts and patient advocacy groups, however, contend that the therapy’s benefits for ambulatory patients may justify continued distribution, given the limited treatment options for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

A new study from the University of California, San Diego, published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, examines the use of online surveillance in schools and its potential effects on learning and mental health. The research, which analyzed 14 companies such as Bark and GoGuardian, found that many of these firms monitor students’ social media, emails, and documents continuously, often without parental consent, using AI with limited human oversight. The study highlights concerns about AI bias, privacy issues, and the risk of discrimination, while noting increasing calls for transparency and opt-out options. However, some organizations, like the Safe Schools Initiative, argue that such surveillance is crucial for preventing school violence and bullying, suggesting the benefits may outweigh the risks.
