The Goldilocks Gamble on a Perfectly Imperfect Future

its unlikely… I know nobody wants to hear this… but except in cases where minerals or resources are required to be extracted onsite “mining/logging/oil” that will likely be the only “15 minute small towns” rest will be mega human settlement zones… if “THEY” don’t need resources there then there will be no reason for humans to be there.

if you subscribe to the theory this is a multi decade plan… their original plan was exposed in a a couple decades old congress omnibill bill " the map that was “accidently left out” and recovered last minute and printed out on the congress floor where the bill then failed… on it there is almost no human presence at all especially west of the Mississippi. “ie the black dots are likely the 15 minute cites” you’ll note states like Idaho and Montana, Nebraska, Dakotas have “NONE” if you are in the east coast and feel safe because of all the blue zones read the pink letters at the top " mapping east the the mississipi is not completed yet "ie they havent added the red… Now add in Bidens 30% land reserves x2030 executive order and the big beautiful bills clause to sell millions of acres of “likely resource rich” government land…and all signs support some newer version of this old map is the intended future.

I know where I am “portland” if I take a step back and watch the trends… I can already see build back better going full speed ahead… dozens of new data centers and countless high rise apartments replacing former single family homes everywhere in an insane pace in the middle of a collapsing economy? who is paying for this? we have depression level job loss… it almost seems like shovel to keys in less than a month… in one other example development of previous farm land into 20,000 planned residents human settlement zone is almost a perfect square kilometer now is it a 15 minute… well no … not yet… but its meets all the criteria… except they just need to but up the fences as there is no reason to leave or go anywhere beyond that square kilometer …work live play eat are all built in on site etc…

They are already tracking us now, and likely in other ways we do not know about using cell phones. It will all contribute to the drive towards geo-fencing.

On a personal note, when I crossed the border in 2023 to go get my service dog in Denver, I wondered if there would be any issues for me, given my loud and proud participation in the freedom protests against mandates. Thankfully there were no issues, but just the fact that I was a bit worried about it is concerning enough.

Here’s a chart of SPX alongside margin debt. Margin debt usually leads SPX. Now it may be trailing just a little bit. This suggests to me that margin debt might not be the driver of the current rally.

It’s easier to build such a thing where a metropolis does not already sit. Perhaps in the same way China did, new cities and new infrastructures will be built. The Club members will reserve the cities for themselves, they value the relics they hold.

Have you considered purchasing a plot of land in some rural location where you could hunker down and maybe cache some supplies?

I did, but not pulling the trigger at this time… mostly because $$ is now tight given we opted to get a nice truck + nice 5th wheel so it tapped our funds pretty deeply.

I could definitely imagine that we might want to grab some land in a couple/few years, not only for resilience’s sake but also to have a physical address somewhere and perhaps even to just be nearer to family without needing to find a campground.

For now, we are all about the “roam” and wandering about.

Whee!

Yeah, it’s a concern, but at least for now I’m opting to not worry as it’s not present, at least in the US. I’ve driven all over the country the last few years. If there become location-restrictions in the US, I think there would still be enough alternatives (cash) at least to some degree.

And if it gets dystopian enough that truly we can’t “roam about”, I would think there would be other concerns/issues at that point. It’s hard to anticipate and plan, especially without getting worried/depressed.

So to some degree I’ve chosen the optimist/head-in-sand approach… just gonna enjoy the mobile lifestyle while I can. :man_shrugging:

When you are ready to feed yourself, hopefully not too late, think about trees.
We have an orchard that began to beautifully produce in 5years. 5 years

I just added 3 Szego chestnut seedlings

Dan, can I ask what kind of RV you decided to get and are you happy with it? We’re thinking camper van more than RV, but it all depends on whether - like you - we end up just selling our place while we can, traveling a little, and then dealing with all else later.

Getting to roam while you still can is awesome.

I think this idea has some merit, although the trick is making sure no one finds it AND no one knows were to look via tracing it back to you…

mainly because if you find yourself geofenced in and come to the conclusion you need to leave “and can manage it” odds are you are not going to be able to “bring a trailer” and that assumes they let you have anything in a 15 minute city “remember you will own nothing and be happy and rent everything you need including clothes”

as a result having off a book hidden resources available “ie your own bat cave” would be smart… escaping into the “wild” with only the shirt on your back seems problematic… of course if you “jump the fence”… the 1st place THEY will look is some property you “used” to own…

Yes you can! We opted to get a new pickup and a new 5th wheel!

We kinda went all out since this will be 100% home for the next 3+ years. Also happy wife = happy life and she’s very happy with this setup.

Cheers!

Just jumping in without prior experience can be very expensive. There are lots and lots of options, from driveable Class A/B/C to towable pop up, travel trailer, or 5th wheel. The are positives and negatives on both side of the equation.

Rent a unit (generally smaller class C) for at least two to three weeks straight. You may quickly find out the lifestyle is not for you.

If you decide to proceed, keep two things in mind… All RV’s are absolute junk, many are junkier than other. Secondly, all RV dealers are lying pieces of sh!t. If you decide to go towable, learn the difference between tow weight and payload. Dealers will sell you on tow weight, to get you into a trailer that your tow vehicle can not safely tow.

We live in a campground in a park model 5 months of the year, and in our 5th wheel 7 months.

Go to large RV shows, but be totally prepared to be completely overwhelmed.

Good luck in your decision making process

Ha! Thanks a lot, Phil. I’ll keep everything you’ve mentioned here, but what Dan and his wife have is definitely not at all what we had in mind. I mean, it’s really beautiful and all - and I guess if we were really going to sell our place and travel around for a while, then we might need something bigger than a camper van - but we are leaning more towards keeping things super simple, if we even get that far :joy:

For the time being, we keep thinking that we should just sell, buy a smaller place to act as home base, and then buy a really nice camper van to do a little traveling while we still can. Or possibly sell and then move closer to our grandchild and rent for a year to see what happens with the housing market. The jury is still out.

Few people are happy in a camper van aka Class B. Dan has a 5th wheel, as do I. I went smaller than he did, as I found there really wasn’t much to be gained from bigger units. With Class C or Class A, you will want another vehicle that needs to be driven or towed. TT, yes and no… good starting place. 5th wheels, now you’re into HD trucks. Two decisions there, Dually or SRW and diesel vs gas. Rule of thumb, above 38’, dually is probably in your best interest. Doing any travel through mountains out west, Diesel is in your best interest. Plus, you have the advantage of fueling at truck lanes… higher cost yes, but a lot easier to get in and out of. BUT, diesel upgrade is an expensive and heavy upgrade.

I’m an admin on a specific brand trailer page, and moderator on a couple of campground pages, plus follow multiple RV pages. Couple of years ago, there was a marked increase in people jumping into RV life, realizing it wasn’t for them. Buy a new unit today, and it is literally worth 50% tomorrow.

“They are already tracking us now, and likely in other ways we do not know about using cell phones.”

This is a video that was uploaded 9 years ago. It’s about seeing people through walls using wifi signals. 5G uses similar frequency ravages to wifi, so it’s not a stretch to suspect that the 5G networks CAN actually watch us in our homes.

This video shows how this “wifi-sensing” uses AI models to interpret signal changes.

But hey, don’t worry! Grok is awesome and Trump is a hero or something!

Very interesting video, thank you Andy! The energy consumption to mine Bitcoin is simply retarded and this is known since a long time. Its the first time I see such ‘mining’ plant though, I feel for the poor Lady who correctly stated that her properties which she worked hard for to buy are now virtually worthless… Who the hell wants to live close to such a nightmare
