A added more shares yesterday to my energy portfolio( mr.Slammy had a sale) BUT … with my resources and after depressing report like this…I feel like it’s not gonna make much of a difference anyway…![]()
Nice summation of our predicament. The embedded video really reflects my concerns. The initial concern is over rising gas prices with no thought given to the knock on effects coming down the pike shortly. Wile E. Coyote is off the cliff, but still “running”.
Nick Freitas on civil war status
We are in a drought where I live. We had a bit of rain but are still far behind. Some years we have dry springs then it rains almost every day for weeks then it’s hard to get work done because the ground is a clay bog.
‘Unless we change direction, we are likely to end up where we are headed’
Im not naive to believe that trump has much say in proceedings. Also, other countries could be speaking up or taking proactive practical precautions for their citizenry but they are not.
It seems to me, moreso as the days pass, that this is nothing short of direct, intentional action (looks to me like a depopulation of the useless eaters combined with a power grab and i dont say that lightly, i have come to feel it) and it really won’t take that long to kick in if what they say about refineries needing certain levels to maintain pressures, and enough of the right type of crude inputs, or production simply starts to be shut off.
Looking from the outside in, it appears that things get real hairy real quick. I know cuba is an extreme case example, what if the dire circumstances there right now are another island test case. A learning exercise for future policy.
An indicator of upcoming western extreme might be if any ultra wealthy have been pointing their toes to the door and calling ahead to their bunker butlers to make sure the pillows have been fluffed and the stores of their favourite nibbles have been checked and rotated for shelf life just in case they have to pay a visit soon.
It blows my mind that the average person seems to have taken zero preparatory action as yet in response. Especially with such extreme warnings on Mainstream channels. Like folks are disconnected from reality, it remains a video game so long as the kids still get to school on time, work has the same expectations and the rent gets paid.
Noooooooooo… not the data paddle!!!
Love it!
It blows my mind that the average American lives basically paycheck to paycheck during good times.
I was always amazed when I was a babysitter as a kid that there was hardly any back stock of food in the fridges and cabinets of the affluent people I babysat for. They would say cook whatever you like and feel free to eat with the kids, then we had to choose hotdogs or being creative with odds and ends. There would be a single cabinet that has like a jar and 3 or 4 cans. The fridges were mostly empty a single onion and apple in a crisper drawer and always the pack of hotdogs. This was pre- pizza every meal days.
Because so much of what many Americans do is social status driven, maintaining “normalcy” is a high priority and overrides common sense.
I can remember years back, perhaps during the GFC, that people were filling Starbucks cups and taking them to work to appear like they were still making their regular stops. Starbucks started changing the cups colors more frequently.
I am expecting mall chains and restaurants chains to start closing stores soon because that will be where cuts are made.
It sounds like a csv export into an excel file and filtering could have given you better results than AI.
In the summers, we water from irrigation ditches off a river. In past years, the irrigation season has run from April to October. This year, we got one watering in April and one in May and were told “that’s it for the year”.
This is a tough one to overcome in today’s society. Any cutting back can feel like failure or deprivation instead of wise use of resources. I hadn’t heard that about the Starbucks cups…what humans will do to fit in!
Copilot is trash. The stock market is at the all time high, and yet:
As for Grok, it doesn’t know objective reality. It knows things that people have said and it knows about giving answers that people like to hear. If someone said it doesn’t exist, well that’s a good answer. These AI will always tend toward consensus answers.
I suspect if you Google searched and got no results you wouldn’t simply quit using all internet search. These things are useful, but have weaknesses, and it’s up to you to determine what they’re good for and whether that’s worth your time.
I had a neighbor who was pregnant when I was. She was ahead of me a couple months. I remember her commenting on the cost of diapers, and I noticed she was using name brand diapers. I mentioned that I had been buying up store brand diapers that were being clearanced because the chain had changed its logo and designs, and there might still be some at the other location.
She informed me that her baby was wearing Pampers even if it hurt, because she deserved the best. I said I was pretty sure the store brand diapers were manufactured by a big name company. She said they would just not be the same. I am pretty sure it was a social status issue and not a diaper quality issue.
I recall that all of them looked like shit when we were done with them, Lol
I was fortunate to have been influenced by frugal people while young.
Like that movie “Eagle Eye.”..where it deliberately kills people by causing car accidents.
And all kinds of AI to analyze it.
So it sounds like it has been modeled along the same parameters as our government! Who knew!!
Of course they are. As Martin Armstrong explains: “Whoever controls the data controls intelligence, financial systems, communications, and eventually political leverage itself. That is why governments are suddenly panicking about cloud dependence. Data is POWER, perhaps more so than gold or oil.”
I gather your answer was meant as snarky. But actually, I am finding it harder and harder to use the internet. Don’t know if it’s a me thing, if what I want to know is stuff that TPTB think I shouldn’t know, or if there’s so much steering towards bullshit now built into the search engines. Regardless, I’m finding it increasingly difficult to find useful answers using search engines.
Anyone else?
So what do you guys think about the future for copper mine communities? We have a ton of copper exploration going on in the mountains outside of town. Historically this was a big mining area, but too rural back in the day to make if very worthwhile.
