Tucker Carlson stated that the CIA is preparing a criminal referral to the DOJ over his pre-war interviews with Iranian leaders, alleging violations such as the Foreign Agents Registration Act. Carlson denied acting as a foreign agent, taking money, or divulging secrets, emphasizing his U.S. loyalty and journalistic duty to engage globally. He noted that wartime conditions tend to reduce tolerance for dissent.
Laura Loomer claimed credit for reporting Carlson to the DOJ, GOP members, and law enforcement over potential FARA breaches from Iran contacts and Saudi Arabia appearances. She called for his investigation and prosecution, linking it to his criticism of U.S.-Israel ties and labeling him an Islamic sympathizer.

Jet fuel prices have risen from $85-90 to $150-200 per barrel following the Strait of Hormuz closure amid the Iran conflict, prompting Qantas, SAS, and Air New Zealand to increase fares. Airlines including Lufthansa and Ryanair have hedged supplies but face risks, while Finnair has expressed concerns over availability. Airspace closures have led to flight reroutes, and analysts have warned of potential grounded planes and halted operations without relief. Airline shares have declined as travel demand softens. Iran has announced the Strait remains open to non-U.S., Israeli, and allied traffic.
In an attempt to offset Hormuz disruptions, the U.S. will begin an 86-million-barrel Strategic Petroleum Reserve exchange next week, allowing companies to borrow crude for later return with a premium. This is part of a 172-million-barrel U.S. contribution to the IEA’s 400-million-barrel release. The SPR holds 415 million barrels, with plans to refill 200 million more at no taxpayer cost. Waivers have eased domestic shipping, and Russian crude sales have been permitted amid attacks on Iran’s Kharg Island. Critics argue the release addresses only a fraction of disrupted Hormuz flows.
Separately, Saudi Arabia’s East-West Petroline, expanded to 7 million barrels per day, is ramping to full capacity from Abqaiq to Yanbu Red Sea terminals, which averaged 2.2 million barrels daily before pre-war limits. The UAE’s 1.5-1.8 million barrel Habshan-Fujairah pipeline is running at 71% utilization. Together, they offset part of the 20 million barrels daily through Hormuz but face terminal constraints at 4-4.5 million barrels combined and refined product shortfalls. However, these bypasses were reportedly designed for short-term disruptions, not sustained conflict. Yanbu and Fujairah ports lack full pipe-matching capacity after Aramco diverts to refineries. Iran has targeted exits including Duqm, Fujairah, Ruwais, and Salalah with drones, halting Maersk operations and raising insurance costs. No full replacement exists without significant new infrastructure under threat.
Geopolitics
Allies have rejected President Trump’s request for warships to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Japan cited high hurdles, France conditioned aid on a ceasefire, and Switzerland banned U.S. overflights. Earlier in the conflict, Spain and Italy have also refused to support. Other nations have not responded.
However, Bahrain has reportedly launched what is described as the first direct attack on Iran by a Gulf nation, including from a U.S.-made M142 HIMARS system in Manama, which hosts the U.S. Fifth Fleet. Experts have noted the possibility of U.S. operation of the launcher.
Meanwhile, the conflict has highlighted U.S. supply chain challenges, according to reports, with munitions stocks such as THAAD, Patriot, and Tomahawks depleting rapidly after prior aid to Ukraine and Israel, and $5.6 billion used in initial days. Fertilizer flows through Hormuz have halted during spring planting, despite domestic resources. Rare earth minerals for guidance systems face two-month shortages, dominated by China. Contractors like Lockheed face pressure to increase production amid consolidation since the 1990s. U.S. defense officials have claimed munitions stockpiles remain at historic highs with production ramping up.
In other news, the UN refugee agency has reported between 600,000 and 1 million Iranian households internally displaced by U.S.-Israeli bombardment, affecting up to 3.2 million people, with numbers likely to rise amid ongoing air operations in cities including Tehran. The death toll nears 1,500, including 165 children in a U.S. strike on a girls’ school. The conflict is straining resources for millions of Afghan refugees in Iran and has displaced 800,000 people in Lebanon from Israeli strikes. Reports indicate many Iranians are sheltering in place amid pro-government rallies.
Relatedly, a Berlin study predicts Germany as the top destination for 28% of potential Iranian war refugees and 14% of Lebanese refugees, citing existing diasporas and Europe’s proximity compared to Canada or the U.S. The EU is preparing for significant migrant flows, similar to the 2015 Syrian influx of over a million people. However, the European Commission has stated there is no current refugee exodus from Iran.

Researchers analyzed conversation histories from 80 ChatGPT users and identified 2,050 memories, with 96% created without user request or notice. Of these, 52% included psychological insights on thinking, beliefs, motivations, and fears. Another 28% held personal data such as names, locations, relationships, and finances, which are protected under European law. Additionally, 35% of users had health details stored from private talks. These memories influence future responses, forming an algorithmic profile.
Microsoft has launched Copilot Health, a feature within Copilot that integrates health records from over 50,000 U.S. hospitals, data from more than 50 wearable devices including Apple Health and Fitbit, and lab results to provide personalized insights. Critics have raised concerns over privacy risks and accuracy limitations given Microsoft’s security history. The tool identifies patterns in activity, sleep, and vitals, according to Microsoft, without replacing doctors. It draws on sources from 50 countries and Harvard Health answer cards, and connects users to providers by specialty, location, insurance, and languages. Conversations are isolated with encryption, strict controls, and options to delete data, which is not used for training. The tool was developed with over 230 physicians from 24 countries and holds ISO/IEC 42001 certification. It collaborates with groups including AARP.
Meanwhile, a seller in Cooper City, Florida, gained attention for using ChatGPT for his home sale, handling planning, pricing, marketing, curb appeal changes such as repainting, timelines, MLS listing, showings, and contract generation. The property received five offers in 72 hours and sold in five days, saving an estimated 3% of the sale price compared to agent fees. He hired a lawyer for reviews, but otherwise used AI for everything. The story has led some to believe real estate agents will no longer be necessary.
Speaking of job cuts, Meta is reportedly considering layoffs affecting more than 20% of its 79,000 workforce to redirect capital toward AI data centers, with plans for $600 billion in spending by 2028. Senior leaders have been instructed to plan cuts, following previous reductions since the 2022 efficiency drive. However, a Meta spokesperson described the reports as speculative.
