What Happens if Trump Repeals Income Taxes?

If Mr Trump abolished the income tax, the US economic landscape would be dramatically transformed. Businesses and individuals have a huge increase in disposable funds, stimulating consumption and investment. On the one hand, increased economic vitality may attract more funds to financial markets, and the cryptocurrency market may also benefit from it. BYDFi, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, is expected to further increase its trading activity. Users are enthusiastic about investment, and spot, derivatives and options trading on the platform may be more frequent.
On the other hand, the abolition of income tax may lead to the problem of government fiscal deficit, leading to the enhancement of monetary overshoot expectations. In this case, cryptocurrency may be favored by more investors as an asset with potential to store value. BYDFi was already among the top derivatives exchanges by trading volume in 2024, so its user base and trading volume could expand further. In addition, if the government’s regulatory attitude towards cryptocurrency is relaxed due to changes in the fiscal situation, BYDFi will face less pressure in compliance operations and can use its innovation advantages, such as Bybit Earn and other financial products and services, to attract more global users and expand its business territory.

Die hard life long Motorhead here… my formula is for when the dealer wants multiple grand to fix something repeatedly " and I can’t or wont do it myself for hundreds"

I dumped my Audi after the 3rd repair… the 1st $2,000 they got me on because it was a wiring gremlin, the second $4,000 one I did myself for $200… the third $8,000 I dumped it because it required a motor and transmission pull… My wife’s Lexus when they wanted $6,000 to pull the engine to fix a very very minor oil leak…

My wife’s replacement car… a New Subaru… I found large dealer with a LIFETIME mechanical warrantee… now they can still get me if the electronics go out…but any moving part is covered as long as I own it…

However, I think you are saying when it makes sense to get rid of your old car and get a new one… I think there is another twist to it… get rid of your used car and get an OLDER one instead… Cars in the 2000’s + got computerized and sensorized and plasticized and so complex and were designed obsolesce and repair bills “pull an engine to fix something that was designed on purpose” kinda like big pharma and big Ag… these cars were designed for the dealer to make money on repairs … So at a certain point yes it makes sense to dump them… However, OLDER cars you make a valid point…and how old varies on the model… Toyotas and Hondas were good until the early 2000’s other brands you may have to kick back until the 80’s or even 70’s… and that will get harder to find a nice one in good shape but its doable… you want .pre computer, pre sensor, pre plastic… Keep it simple Stupid…

Some examples
My Brother in Law sold me his 1997 Tacoma for $1 … 12 years ago because the window was cracked and the battery was dead and he didnt want to hassle with it. I figured I’d drive it till it broke, so 12 years later I am pushing 300k and still going strong… its out lived 2 new cars already…only a couple repair bills for a water pump bearing and a wheel bearing couple hundred bucks each at my local shop and that was because I was too busy at the time to do it myself for $50. My 98 dodge ram 12v diesel… is at 140k and the reputation of these, it should got to 500k before it needs a rebuild… my 1972 Plymouth from high school I learned on and can rebuild blindfolded is still going as well as a 73 vw bug I fixed up with my daughter… and both those two I can rebuild myself and literally order every new part needed in the entire car to completely rebuild it for under 2k interior included…

So maybe instead of a new car go get a restored old bug or an old army jeep or heck even an old classic 60’s mustang… 1/10 the parts, 1/10 the cost, 1/10 the complexity… does not track you and EMP proof to boot.

My formula for buying an old car has been (for 30 years) “old enough that I can fix it myself, or new enough that I don’t have to”. Newest car I’ve owned was a diesel VW, early '05, pre- emissions “scandal”. That’s been a compromise. I’m great at tetris, and have small hands and CAN fix myself, but I pay a shade tree mechanic to take care of it. Most of that cost goes to funding his online and Haynes reading time, a smaller fraction to the brilliant specialty tools.
My amended formula now includes the tradeoff of which resource is more abundantly available to invest in an older vehicle: time or money.

My mid 90’s taco needed some love around 300k. They are nearly unbreakable- when you finally do, “awe” is usually involved. Either epic stories behind the act of breaking, or a warm-fuzzy sort of admiration for the engineering and endurance when you pull it apart and see what miraculously didn’t fail.

With any massive change there will be winners and losers, and abolition of income tax could not be more massive.

The modern day theory of income tax is to ensure state services are paid for in a proportion to ‘income and ability to pay’. Most of a low income is consumed by essential purchases. No so with large incomes.

From the UK this huge reset of conventional thinking is facinating, and blogs like this show real debate is happening, that is reassuring.

Changing a century’s old system is tricky, and we can only hope it has been thought through properly !

BTW,

beautifully presented contribution by you

Well, either that, or you are willing to adapt.

I prefer a higher Sales Tax that can only be increased by NATIONAL referendum, when we choose our Presidents.

I liked the FAIR Tax approach. Tax Consumption and NOT production.

First, I love the V image. One of my all time favorite mini-series. That Morena what’s her name… She was born a perfect 10. Even knowing she was a lizard, and would consume me… I would have given it a go. LOL.

Next, yeah, I have 2 thumbs on cars. Overtighten things, etc.
But you make an excellent point about getting OLDER vehicles. My buddie just bought 1997 Diesel Pickup for his farm. His Small tractor already runs on Diesel. He wanted the same thing. Something that can be maintained easily enough.

Again, I have a 2014 Acura MDX. My goal is to keep it until I pass away. I don’t have 90K miles on it, despite heavy miles the first 6 years. I work from home. So I probably put 6K miles or less on it/yr. My goal was to keep it until 400K-500K miles. 250K miles should be an absolute minimum. I figure I should get 30yrs out of it still based on mileage.
I don’t think I have anything close to 30yrs left in me. And I assume my driving will only go down, LOL.

As I’m paying 1.5 times my wage income in tax, I would appreciate their doing away with income tax. (As well as tax on inherited IRAs.)

I don’t care about the 40% that are basically getting a free ride now. I also don’t care about the billionaires either. That is a different problem that is solved by getting rid of the Fed that hands them the money first.

I care about the 60% of us that have to spend an enormous amount of time having to play the games to stay in compliance with the 75000+ pages of tax rules. I spend many many hours (probably measured in weeks) and thousands in professional fees every year to play the stupid IRS games between personal and businesses.

Eliminate the IRS. All those employees at the IRS, tax accountants, and tax lawyers can find something productive to do in life rather than suckle from the complexity of the system.

“Diana”…I’d recommend you give “V The Final Battle” and the initial mini series a rewatch… today vs the 80’s puts it in a whole new light…but drop the alien themes and put Biden in for the mind controlled president and Bill and Klaus and the WEF in for the Visitors,… …scary how close it comes to reality today even demonizing the “Scientists and Doctors” trying to overcome the media controlled propaganda of the truth… neighbor’s and family turning each other in, Brown shirt activist kids for todays BLM/Ukraine/Elon memes on twitter… and the lies to try and steal earths resources… but of course today EU’s “Ursula is no Diana”… of course the whole plot was rewritten off of real world Nazi takeover Germany in the late 30’s so its a playbook we are experiencing today

“V” ! for Victory over the Vistors!

Downloading it now  I had the original series on my server, but haven’t seen the final battle. It may take a few weeks to get to it. thank you for the suggestion

start at the beginning with the original… again replace the visitors for the woke leadership… see how many parallels line up over the last 5 years… its scary…

The fact that some people aren’t being robbed as much as others is no reason to stop trying to end or reduce the robbery against others.

40% pay no income tax? Great! Let’s make that 100%!

As a UK citizen, living over the big pond, the whole issue is so exotic to me.

Very much an ‘Americana Concept’, but as with so many things, what is done in the USA, so often occurs a few years later over here.

So many new ways to combine social support with taxation have been tried and suggested, over many lifetimes.

A Single Fixed Income is piloted in one US State, Spain, and I believe some other areas. A fixed monthly amount given to all citizens, with nearly no extra support available, unless ill health etc. demands it.

A Tarrif instead of personal tax initiative, as is being mooted here.

A Scandinavian concept, where Corporations pay very little, (or pay for pension provision for citizens plus civil projects), but significant levels of income and road tax make up the bulk of the state’s income.

There are many more, and such options too, could be subject to a referendum ?

I doubt if the term is used in the States, but in the UK the old term would be “There are many ways to skin a cat”.

We wait in anticiption for Trump’s next move.

Looks like there was
Original mini series
TV show
Final battle

Have I got it all?

Yep at least in terms of alignment today there was surprisingly a third season mini series I never saw until Covid really hard to find and not that good… main part that aligns to today is 1st 2

I have all three downloaded. Working to get them uploaded to my server, but that is a challenging task (long story I hope to get resolved next month or in June).

Morena Baccarin, she played Anna in The TV Series V.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1307824/?ref_=nm_flmg_job_1_cdt_c_40

Anyways. I will check out The Final Battle.

Thanks!

It’s the same here. Yeah, we just have to try something.
For example, if I did not have to pay social security taxes (I am self employed so I pay both halves). I could have easily paid my father what his SocSec was paying him. If my one brother an I split it, we would be really happy. LOL.

And the reality is that LUCKY ME will likely live through the phasing out of this system after paying into it for 50+ years.

Norway was the best run country I was in. Everything was “expensive enough” to reduce waste. Cell Phones were so cheap, most people had 2. It was the first place I drove through Digital Tolls. The guy driving was complaining how expensive this route was with the tolls. I said “I never saw you stop and pay one”. LOL.

We cannot keep WASTING Trillions of dollars, and letting Criminals and Congress (but I repeat myself) get rich on their positions. The graft gets to be just another tax.

Crossing our fingers.

thats the remake… good but the original 1984 you could almost say is happening today step by step… DEI equity, pupet president reading a telepromter, propaganda, totalitarianism, division, canceling scientists etc…
