A collapsing economy will pale in comparison to the explosive growth in global warming when the aerosols produced by the burning of fossil fuels disappear (aka global dimming). Right after 911 average temperatures in the lower 48 shot up by a degree in just a couple of days when the airlines were shut down. I bet it was a lot worst this last year. There’s even a Harvard physicist proposing burning a lot of coal to increase global dimming. When we run out of it it will be game over for all life on planet earth since there will be much greater amount of CO2 in the atmosphere along with the feedback loops going into hyperdrive.
