So It's Back To First Principles (Part 2)

You’re joking.
A hypothetical Crooks-to-ear shot would have sailed West of the infamous corner(from your own favorite WHYY radio station map):

Hey, was Corey’s autopsy released partially?
I’ve seen only in short “shot wound to the head” - but no details. It would be interesting to know what direction etc.

In the " UNITED STATES HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FINAL REPORT OF FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS " we found on page 125:

The FBI also identified two lead bullet cores that were consistent with a .223 caliber bullet.781 An examination of the ammunition collected by the FBI found .223 Remington caliber cartridges with a federal ammunition headstamp, 5.56 NATO cartridges with an Advance Armament Corporation ammunition headstamp, and .223 Remington caliber cartridges with a Hornady ammunition headstamp.782 The ammunition with the Hornady headstamp is consistent with Crooks’ purchase of 50 rounds of Hornady .223 Remington caliber cartridges in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania on July 13 while en route to the rally.783

They do not indicate what cartridges were remaining in Crooks’ rifle magazine.

Sorry, I didn’t read what you wrote closely enough.

I’ve haven’t heard that it’s been released, or even that any researcher has tried to get access to it.

Well - I’ve gone back and looked at the highest resolution aerial photos with the best angles, and made sure I understood where the lectern was in relation to the front of the walkway. Mr. Trump’s ear was pretty much directly over the front plane of the lectern, which in turn was about six inches behind the front edge of the walkway.

Adjusting for those and the height of a six foot tall person, I got this with a 2X blown up WHYY photo:

And this with one of the ABC news photos. I hadn’t used this photo before because I couldn’t figure out what was going on with the corner of the south bleachers. But after I compared it with some better quality photos, I could see that the thick post was the corner post, and the one to the left that didn’t seem to go up high enough was on the side, and it didn’t look like it went up high enough because the top part isn’t as thick in real life, and the digital camera’s sharpening feature probably made the top of the post go away.

Anyway - it looks like “Crooks’” position is consistent with a shot that grazed Mr. Trump’s ear and then hit the south bleacher railing. On one picture, the line “wants” to hit the railing a little to the left of the spot we know was hit, on the other picture, it wants to hit to the right. My placements of the person placeholders are the main thing subject to error…

And after staring at various frames from Mr. Copenhaver, Mr. Comperatore, Det. Collins’ bodycam and the ESU operator’s helmetcam, I think the shot is OK with elevation considerations too.

Basically, the north bleachers and the stage are on slightly higher ground than the AGR 6 building and the south bleachers. Just two or three feet, but it’s enough.

Do I think “Crooks” fired the first shot? I don’t know. There was no echo with the first three shots, the first three shots sounded different than the next five shots on many recordings, Mr. Copenhaver was shot at about the same time as “shot 1”, the shot that hit the telehandler caused it to spurt fluid in a direction other than back at the AGR building, and of course we have the testimony of the Hercules 2 counter sniper.

I’m still wrestling with the question of why those bullets didn’t seem very loud. There are just a few people here and there who react as you would expect when a bullet that supposedly is 130 dB or more goes whizzing by your head. That proportion is probably not more than the proportion of people who are extra sensitive to sounds as a result of being on the autism spectrum.

I mean - Nobody jumped - apart from the people in the back row of the south bleachers. Normally if someone slams a door quite a few people will jump.

None of the Secret Service detail even moved a muscle when the first shot is fired. It’s like they don’t hear ANYTHING. And Nick Menster described thinking it sounded like a SMALL fireworks at first.

with a shot ONLY WEST of the corner.
And all of your favorite maps show that hypothetical path, WEST of the infamous corner.

ABC Australia drew the ‘gold hemisphere’ to show the shooter’s location, because they saw Copenhaver hit twice in less than 2 seconds.
You, will never see that.
ABC Australia has removed this page!(they had to when they saw the the “lone gunman’s blood trail”!)

I’ve seen only cited death certificate.

This is from the reprimand letter for the site counterpart, tentatively identified as Dana Dubrey. I found this interesting, as it implies that Myosoty Perez could have been yanked from the role of site agent, but nobody chose to do it.

Also, reading the whole thing, I would agree with the people who say that some of these lower people were thrown under the bus (but still given pretty light punishments), while more senior people like Nick Menster, who I’m pretty sure is the “DTD 2nd Sup” mentioned here, got off scot free.

Does anyone know who is referred to as “Lead agent”?

Yes, everyone knows ‘who’ was the “Lead agent”, pictured, below.

I hesitate to ask, but could you put that picture into irfanview or something and draw the outline of the guy you see, and the hair outline?

I honestly don’t see it.

There’s more than 1 guy so, multiple choice:
the guy kneeling, or the guy
under the chest/belly of the kneeling man?
If you mean where did I get the head image of the designated shooter, I explained that.
Do you want me to repeat the explanation?

I seem to remember you saying something pretty basic - just the name of the software you used. If you said something more, sure, please repeat it for us dummies in the back.

Unsure how much you remember, but 8+ months ago, I found 10 frames in Dayve’s video, and said it looked like ‘Danny DeVito riding a burrito’. The 2nd of 10 shows the best view of a face left side, on a bald head, about 6 pixels.
I cropped those 6px in 100x100px selections with Gimp in Debian, then resized with Irfanview in Windows 11
Then with a resize(600%?, 900%…can’t remember) and with Gimp’s Path Tool, I click click clicked very casually through blurry gray pixels for ~15 seconds, then Shift+V PathToSelection, Ctl+C copy, and Ctl+V to paste the selection onto a roof, then into a blue sky.
Trout fisherman miles away, knowing nothing about it, described it as a ‘badly Photoshopped human head’… except Photoshop 7.0 hadn’t been used.
I could see Baldy was looking up and to his left, could see his eyelashes! His mouth looked slightly open, could barely see his ear.
With Photoshop 7.0, I added an ear and an eye, was unsure of mouth and lips, tried to add other skin, gave up, then just ‘colorized’ with Photoshop7.0.
I don’t know what resize I used that day, can’t find it, and can’t repeat the cropping selection!
So I’m not even sure how I guessed my way through blurry gray pixels, with a plain old PC mouse, on Kellog’s Cornflakes box cardboard as mouse pad…really unsure how I cropped it, without trying.
Have you ever played with a Ouija board?
I have, but stopped after reading The Exorcist

Interesting comment. Every single video that has been taken during shots has HAD audible shots, no matter where in the audience or the vicinity, although I wonder if some of them spliced in audio from other sources. This video is immediately after shots are fired, BTW.

“I actually got to hang out a little with Vincent before the rally began… Here’s my video of what happened. I was 10 rows in front of Trump. I couldn’t hear the shooters shots. Our area could only hear the secret service sniper gun fire.”

His video starts about 9 seconds before shot 10, so after the first 8 shots, so it’s normal not to hear anything!

He’s saying HE didn’t HEAR any shots. He’s saying no one in the section heard shots. That’s totally unrelated to when he started recording.

Okay. But it’s a shame we can’t verify what he’s saying with the video.
And how can we explain, if no one around him heard the gunshots, that they’re all crouching or even lying on the ground?

Fair question. This video shows how a lot of the front crowd reacts soon after the first shot or two:

Many TikTok videos let you download, but this one doesn’t.

I took screenshots of three frames, and rather clumsily tried to line them up. I should have rotated the first one too. Anyway, a LOT of people in the front part of the crowd are plainly reacting to the first shot. There do appear to be pockets a little further back where there’s not much movement, but it kind of looks like those are people that are more than 10 rows back.

The Dave who took this video was on the right side of the main audience, and so I think he’d be too far left of the people in the pics below.

There are phenomenon like acoustic shadows, but I’ve only heard of it in contexts of longer distances and indoor spaces.

David Dutch specifically said he didn’t hear any shots until after he was shot.

I don’t know. I guess one big question is - was there just one lectern mic, the same one going to the TV broadcasts and to the PA system? It certainly looks like there was just one microphone. In that case, people in the audience should have heard what was broadcast on TV, apart from general muffling or distortions, which would be more or less the same for Mr. Trumps speech as for gunshots.

David Dutch certainly rotated his head during the 1 second before his gunshot.
Does it look as if he could have heard ‘shot 1’ to his East?
