The widespread prevalence of TDS is really and truly emerging now. It was certainly evident during Covid and the Freedom Convoy, but what has emerged the past few weeks is almost beyond comprehension. Canada is really, truly in seriously deep trouble. It is not difficult to foresee the country breaking up, with the west, sans BC, deciding it has had enough. I don’t want to see it, but I certainly understand why if it does head in that direction.
Yeah, sorry. I was onboard with many of Trump’s policies, but declaring a 25% tariff on your closest and most loyal neighbour and threatening to take over their country through economic warfare if you don’t get what you want…pretty sure that’s technically an act of war.
il and many people I know, were in a panic about this. And as soon as he got what he wanted, he changed his mind on a dime. Interesting that some of you find that so amusing.
Chris has mentioned several times being against “might makes right” policy, but I guess when Trump does it, that’s okay.
There is a video where Yon is sitting at a table in Panama where he goes on about Trump. I am not sure if he made the same comments in content presented here.
@shplad Martin Armstrong weighed in on Trump’s policy in this article yesterday, which I posted over on the Europa thread. It speaks to the Marxist roots of tariffs, and how he thinks Trump is wrong in pursuing this policy as it always causes more harms.
I’m almost always impressed by the open-mindedness of many folks here, and your comment is certainly included.
I’m not saying that the U.S. should let other organizations/countries get away with not paying their bills or abusive behaviours. However, Trump constantly talks about other entities “being totally unfair” or “treating us very badly”, then does whatever the f*ck he wants to them, and that’s okay.
The cognitive dissonance is strong here. If you’re a conservative, you believe in (real) free markets. Tariffs aren’t free markets. And trade deficits? Yes, you try to balance them, but my minimal reading of Hayek suggests they don’t need to be perfectly balanced all the time.
From what I understand, part and parcel of a self-balancing system like capitalism is that it’s not always perfectly balanced. It’s always moving towards balance. Maybe I’m wrong.
Before the 20th century, tariffs were the main (sole?) source of income for nations. This is just returning us to more normal times. Don’t take it personally…
Its really disturbing to me too. I can’t describe how deeply disturbing honestly.
Got a chance to hear a few Jordan Peterson podcasts recently and in one he said he came away from Covid realizing that “70% of Canadians would wear a mask for the rest of their lives if they were told to and 30% would be happy to do so if it meant being able to turn in their neighbors”.
When I was a young man I got involved with a woman who had some very sad childhood traumas. I watched her recovering memories (so to speak) and connecting them to her adult behavioral patterns as she went through therapy.
Ever get the feeling as a Canadian that we need to do our version of this @DanBC?
It feels like most of the citizens of this country had triggers installed during their schooling that the rulers can switch on whenever they need it. And the rulers behave as if they have an operators manual.
Once again, we are the same page Jan. One reason I’m so happy about Danielle Smith’s actions is that besides offering positive guidance to Canada, she can also be a leading voice of whatever the western part of the nation becomes if the worst happens.
One former friend, deeply indoctrinated into the Woke Cult in all aspects, is a classic example of having no to low awareness. She thinks the alt media is Fox News I just about fell off my chair laughing when she said that Sadly, it was one of the last things she ever said to me, for she is no longer a part of my life. Twelve years of friendship died on the ideological altar she and countless others worship
Trudeau is a TYRANT. A narcissist. An agent for foreign powers. He has been actively tearing down Canada since 2015, in the name if Wokeness and Green Theocracy. He has funded the media in Canada, their propaganda is nauseating, reflecting his policies. He has been a Pied Piper, luring naive and manipulated Canadians into his destructive policies. This forum is too short to list the many ways he is a disingenuous, artificial, two-faced traitor.
He proved his tyrannical ways thru Covid, in case you didn’t pay attention.
So, Canada has a drug problem, it’s not going away, it’s getting worse. The government solution was to decriminalize fentanyl, meth, etc, but Lo and behold, the problem got worse! Quelle Surprise! The government continues to Molly coddle the street zombies, subsidize the Poverty Pimp industry, and turn a blind eye to the core issue. That is, Cracking down on supply and importation. Skid Rows of drug zombies exist in every Town/City of 20,000 or more nationwide. The evidence is obvious. It’s exploded since Trudeau got elected in 2015.
He has said he’ll resign, but will he? He doesn’t want to, and he’s still scheming for a way to stay. Yeah, he is.
He’s an arrogant, sociopathic dilettante tyrant.
So, to your point, maybe it takes a bigger “bully” to stomp out a smaller bully, that has had it coming for a long time.
Excuse me while I dance on Trudeau’s political grave! I have no good wishes for the Turd, the damage he and his traitorous, arrogant party have done to this country is layered and deep, and will be difficult to eradicate.
Tariffs are a blunt tool. Yes, Canada would have been crushed, but this country has NOT been a good partner, again, the list of disingenuous actions are too long to post.
Poor military support.
An active CCP presence in the LIEberal party.
Soft on drugs.
Encouraging government dependency.
Ever increasing taxes.
Carbon taxes
Discouraging industry, specifically resource industries.
Environmental madness.
Etc.
So yes, I’m enjoying Trump throw his weight around.
This country sounds like the home of xenophobia. Substitute JEW or N Word for American (or unvaxxed) and one would think Canadians are the second coming of Apartheid South Africa.
This country is in a trance, easily triggered, and lacking any critical thinking. They take their orders at 6pm every night. PATHETIC!
Danielle Smith is the only adult politician in Canada. The rest, IN EVERY PARTY, have been terrible, all a similar message, some sincere about their hatred of Americans, others like PP, just mouthing the words, playing coward politics so he doesn’t offend anybody in his quest to become PM. A Milquetoast.
While the Consevative Party would be a refreshing change, I’m not sure too much would change. Polievre is such a squish.
I think it’s simpler than that.
Canadians take their orders and political positions at 6pm everyday, from the government subsidized media, whose union members are all too happy to propagandize.
Yes, that’s the problem.
I am sorry, what is conserved by “Free Markets”? The entire concept, as we know it, was developed by folks like Cecil Rhodes, then the Milner Group, to institute an (Anglo) Global Shipping Empire.
This has led to the exact opposite of conservation. Weren’t the original conservatives, as it is understood today, those who stood with the monarch in France during the revolution? To conserve their traditions, etc.?
Free trade is a tool for abuse and financial colonization.
It would not surprise me to discover that USAID, and other deep-state money launderers, were tools of the forever war machine. Forever wars are promoted by instability. Instability is promoted by indecisive wars.
Have you noticed how the U.N., since its inception, has promoted “ceasefire” over lasting peace treaties?
“Ceasefire” without dealing with the underlying dispute, means the parties will fight again once they have recovered somewhat. Wars end when the issue is decided. The last decisive major war was WW-2.
“Ceasefire” and “helping the little guy” sound warm and fuzzy, but in matters of war often cause more bloodshed and misery than allowing a decisive end to the conflict. Think about the agony of Ukraine.
The links between DNC, USAID, and child sex trafficking reminded me of the noise around the Podesta brothers back around 2015-16. I remember reading an article on the skinny one (John?) that featured a photo of him in his lavish house. On the wall behind him was a weird and (to me) distasteful painting depicting a pants-less male - all a bit out of focus. I also remembered an image of young children looking as if hands were bound.
I just spent more time that I should have trying to find that mainstream US journal article, not knowing what it was, without luck. But I did find the images I remember seeing, and several articles addressing the weird art interests of the Podestas. Here’s one. I chose it because it shows a lot of the art - which, fair warning, is disturbing. (The text between the images is redundant; I have no idea why.) Another theme in Podesta art - including, apparently, a piece he had displayed at his Clinton election campaign headquarters office - is cannibalism.
I’m using this article because it provides the best and most images of the art; I’m not arguing for or against the old Pizzagate accusations. I don’t know enough.
This sounds eerily like Afghanistan 2021. Im not familiar with that place but sounds like they agitated that majority with TDS type hatred against christians. Just like democrats did. Politics is dirty game everywhere in world. Using that tool is no going back though.
